;) odd, I thought Wednesday played at home yesterday? ;)

oh, (realisation dawns upon PT...) DUH!!

Right!!! scratch that!

Wednesday played, at home, yesterday, didn't they?

Maybe their fans, or their opponents (Walsall?) put the windows through? it isn't that far from the ground, is it? there's often cases of various teams' footy fans having put windows through, after matches, across the country.

P "silly me...!" T

Cuthberts is re-opening under new management in the new year. Watch it go really downhill as the new 'manager' is opening to cater for the more 'dubious' of clientel.

An ex-work colleague of mine was the last licencee of the Cuthbert. I heard from a friend that he came out of the pub because of problems with 'undesirable clientele'

More dubious than the existing clientelle? I'm sure some love it, but last time I went in I regretted it. The atmosphere (and the smell) was not particularly desirable.

The Blake as closed down too. It seems the whole area is gowing down the pan.

I have finally got to the bottom of this - after much running round.
Apparently the pub is being sold by the owners without the manager's prior knowledge!
I had my wedding reception booked in the George for August 2005 and now we have no venue and everywhere else i have tried is already full because it is such a popular time of the year. We are stuck and are going to have to get in touch with the owners just to try get the deposit back (I'd still rather have my wedding reception though!)
Does anywhere know of a similar venue we may be able to use?

I've been in both the Geroge and Cuthbert during the week on several occasions and didn't find anything wrong with it.

I've never been in at the weekend though.

Looks like the George IV has now reopened. Anyone been in yet? Looks the same from the outside (minus the boards over the windows) so mebbe not much has changed inside.
