Nirmal on Glossop Road Authentic indian cooking the decor is a bit dated but the food is the best indian i've had in Sheffield.

I always find "Nirmals" to be very intimidating....they give me and our lass a right menacing look when we order Korma's....like we're not worthy to be there....

the BEST curry house is "the Butlers Balti" on the road just behind west street! Serve all curries in a proper balti dish and are the most genuinely nice waiters in sheffield i reckon!

oh and they do the absolute BEST puppadom sauce...and they let me take some home every time!

Mangler on spital hill as got to be the best curry house this side of bradford and it's cheap too.you do'nt pay for the surroundings "it's not that plush"but the food is lush..........i'm a poet and i did'nt know it:hihi:.But joking aside it's very good.

The Mangla is a bloody good curry house and though the location is not the most salubrious it all adds to the experience and it has been improved by a complete refurb. I should add that those people who are recommending the New India Garden and Everest on Chesterfield Road really should try it as neither are that special IMHO.

You should try the al ameer palace in attercliffe. I t has no licence but the pub next door lets you take their glasses in. Excellent waiters food atmosphere and they deliver!

But go early as it can get really busy in the evenings (particularly weekends and it is drop-in rather than booking).

Not being a great curry lover I'm very picky about where I'll go - I usually find that most dishes taste exactly the same, usually because they have all come out the same pan in the kitchen.

It's a little out of Sheff, but the best so far has got to be the Dil Raj up in Dodworth. They are also very family friendly, we have always taken our 4 year old, and there are usually other folks in with young kids.

The very best I've ever had was about 800 miles away in what was the old East Germany - bit far for a night out though............

The Mangla Spital Hill the best for a sit down dining experience.

If you want takeaway the Hot 'n' Spicy at Page Hall is very good. They have a guy who makes all the bread and it is wonderful.

I cant believe no-one has mentioned the balti king at broomhill! Its fantastic, I know it went through a bad period a few years ago but its amazing! The takeaway menu is like a book!he food is fantastic!

Mangla is in a very rough area, we go quite alot, however we always get a taxi home which staff at the mangla arrange so if you try it you could do that like us :)

Absolutely spot on mate, a taxidriver know's best :hihi: but i have heard glowing reports about Akbars although the last bloke i picked up from there said he had to feel his way to the table because it was that dark.

Nirmals food is lovely but she doesn't like you to look at the menu. She kinda tells you what you want to eat.. I would highly recommend the Ranmoor Tandoori .. Beautiful!

I have never been impressed with this place. I have been 3 times and once it was ok. The other 2 times the service was awful (wrong orders, missing orders, not bringing any cutlery to eat with!). Also they seem to be obsessed with putting chili in everything. I like hot curry, but have friends who cant eat it and usually get a korma which is usuall y mild in curry houses (at least the ones in the uk). Not at mangla as the korma (and everything from what I can tell) always seem to be full of chilis so they did not enjoy it at all. I also woke up with severe stomach pain in the middle of the night the third time I ate there. For me that was the final straw and I wont ever eat there again.

The Mangla is not in a rough area, the road looks tatty but it's perfectly safe. The food on the other had is certainly not what it used to be a few years ago, I live 2 mins away but stopped going a couple of years ago as all the food tastes the same what ever you order. It's a shame but it true.

The Zeenat on attercliffe rd , jn Worksop road is quality

Is say Zeenat on Attercliffe, Seven Spices at West Bar, and Indian Chef at Crookes are all pretty good.
