Mat whisper 27-12-2004, 11:27 ive heard the sony ericcson s700i is really good Cyclone 27-12-2004, 12:19 there's one being advertised on tv at the moment that has 1.3m pixels (pretty good compared to most phones) and a flash (vital in less than perfect lighting). I think it's a Sharp, looks quite nice, has bluetooth as well. New though and can be costly. Sharp GX30 is okay is you dont mind being stuck with vodafone (which I do, they were hopeless when i was with them). I have a nokia 7610 which is megapixel and very good. mjlacey21 28-12-2004, 20:40 thanks for all your help - ended up getting a sharp and moving to vodafone - if i dont like the network will i be able to get it unlocked and put a different sim in? Bikertec 28-12-2004, 20:53 With the price and quality of camera phones surely it would be better to get a decent Digital camera wouldn't it?. Mooseyb 29-12-2004, 11:02 Originally posted by Bikertec With the price and quality of camera phones surely it would be better to get a decent Digital camera wouldn't it?. Depends really. My phone was free, so not for me. If you shop around you can get the latest phones at a good price anyway. Alternatively, just buy both :) Cyclone 29-12-2004, 11:48 Originally posted by Bikertec With the price and quality of camera phones surely it would be better to get a decent Digital camera wouldn't it?. difficult to make calls with one though, don't you think? mjlacey21 29-12-2004, 15:56 no point me getting a camera because i would never take it anywhere with me, even when i do take them out i forget to use them. thought i might be more likely to use one id have with me all the time anyway. Bikertec 29-12-2004, 16:29 Ok I see your points no you can't make calls with a camera but you can get a decent phone for less than £100 and a decent camera for under £200 where as a decent camera phone cost over £500. As for combined phone and camera I have had one for over a year used the camera 10 -20 times when I first bought it and not used it since. My digital camera I could not live without. :( steevie/d 29-12-2004, 16:35 i just got the new motorolla v 980 takes nice pic and got a flash on it too £150 from voda meadowhell mr craig 29-12-2004, 17:36 Samsung E700 seems to take good photos. The K700 i good but seems to lose a lot of quality in low light conditions, the lights very handy as a torch tho! lol Mooseyb 29-12-2004, 20:34 where as a decent camera phone cost over £500. Where are you shopping!! Harrods?? Nokia 7610, 200 minutes any time plus 500 texts, 20 quid to buy, then 30 quid a month. :) slh73 29-12-2004, 21:04 Originally posted by Mooseyb Where are you shopping!! Harrods?? If, like me, you prefer to buy your phone outright and use whatever PAYG sim in it you like, rather than taking out a 12 month legally binding contract, its expensive to have the latest hardware. Better to stay a step behind. Mooseyb 29-12-2004, 21:52 I never understand this argument. I have a few friends on PAYG who say that Im paying 30 quid a month for the phone, but Im not, Im paying for the calls. Option one - latest phone, plus 200 mins anytime, plus 500 texts - £30 per month. Option two - either really old phone for cheap, or pay £100 for newer phone, then still have to pay loads for calls. 500 texts is £50 a month. 200 mins is say £60? Maybe its just me? I can see what the best deal is personally. Cyclone 29-12-2004, 22:16 PAYG normally works out better for very light use. Anyone using a phone more than a couple of times per week should get a contract as it will work out cheaper. And then you can get the latest hardware at a decent price. Most people carry a phone whenever they go out, not the same with a camera. The camera you can take when you know in advance you will take photos, weddings and the like. Your phone you'll have when your mates form an impromtu human pyramid late at night. It mght not be a function you'll use every day, but it's guaranteed that there are times you'd wish to take a photo and haven't taken your camera with you. Better to stay a step behind. if you are not hapy with tariff, you can take it down to the lowest one after 6 months, which is about tenner a month!! but if you wanna work it out anyways....... if they use there quota per month at £30 200 minutes at an average of 15p per minute works out at....... £30 :D 500 messages at an average 10p each work out at ........ £50 so in a way it is worth it personally im on orange, got a sony ericsson p900 (quality phone) for free, 500 minutes a month and 30 texts all for £25, now you cant tell me that is not worth it! |
