Scientists from Sheffield University have helped with a plan, which could turn never ending Space travel into a fact. Astronomers David Hughes and Hugh Alleyne, have designed precise photographic equipment, which will be flown to the Moon as part of a £70 million mission next month.

The venture, is to test propulsion and navigation systems which could eventually lead to continuous Space travel. The craft will use energy from the Sun to convert xenon gas into power to fire its engines. It will then orbit the Moon studying the surface for clues about its origins and examining the mineral make-up of its polar regions.

Smart one will also use its Sheffield technology, to try to make a laser beam connection with Earth, to send instant pictures to its controllers in the european space agency. It will continue its surveys for up to a year, but once the gas for its engines is used up, it will eventually crash into the Moon.

At last Sheffield will be on the map, as we shall be in the cutting edge of technology and can be proud of our boffins and our City.

halevan, out of interest, where did you read this / copy and paste this from? We don't want to be done for copyright infringement if it wasn't originally written by you! ;)
