View Full Version : Music That Stinks This Week!

For me, I can't stand that Kate Nash. I hate her sound. I mean, is that suppose to be a song. She sounds a lot like Lilly Allen. Her video is crap! Hasn't she seen the old Ikea advert ' Chuck Out Your Chintz Today'. Obviously not. Were most of the props for the video bought, from a jumble sale or charity shop? Anyways, her video stinks, BIG TIME! She should stop advertising plastic watches, weird outfits and funny tupa wear, on our tv screens. Doesn't she know, they'll never make a come back? And if they do, then the fashion industry must have run out of ideas!

Mm. Nearly as funny as reading about Amy Winehouse (all together now, 'poor girl') and discovering her being described as a 'beauty'!!!! The Sun (who else) wrote about her 'problems' last week opening their article with words like 'Pop beauty, Amy Winehouse.' Ha, ha, ha, ha.....,

(I'm not convinced she's actually a she, anyway)

As for Kate Nash, non-descript, uninteresting, run-of-the-mill radio fodder fit for today's impassive generation.

That's strange, the thread title is "Music that stinks this week" yet all the two posts have done is slag off the artists on either their video or looks, neither have much of an influence on the music. Do you actually listen to music or do you read celebrity magazines and watch MTV? All you have done is come across as bitchy, bitter females who know nothing of music.

I neither read celebrity magazines nor watch MTV. Though I haven't seen her video, I have heard Kate Nash and must say that I think she has a voice that could strip paint.

As for Amy Winehouse, I think she has a distinctive look and an excellent voice. Moreover, I like her songs. Unlike the equally drug-enhanced Pete Doherty, she really does appear to have a talent that she's in danger of chucking away. I hope she manages to sort herself out.

Not strictly speaking a reply to the OP, but someone's got to stand up for Kate Nash. I think she's very talented and has a brilliant voice that makes me smile a great deal.

a, sorry to disappoint, but I'm a fella;

b, I can't really manage more than three seconds of the likes of VH-1, MTV or whatever;

c, I can manage less time looking at bile printed in the likes of 'celebrity' (?) magazines.

Sadly, d, non-entities like Whinehouse (sic) fill pages of newspapers weekly which I struggle to keep away from.

And e, the music I listen to requires a brain to appreciate and is not particularly based on one's appearance - or in Whinehouse's case - lack of.

Oh, Halibut, I have you to thank for introducing me to Billy Bragg and loads of other good stuff, but Kate Nash? *shakes head sorrowfully* I'll put it down to a hopefully temporary lapse in your usually excellent taste.

Have you listened to her track 'Birds'? It's beautiful in a wholly unexpected fashion. Go on, you know you want to.......:)

I hadn't, but I have now (well, some of it). Beautiful introduction... and then her appallingly awful voice kicked in and I'm afraid I had to turn it off. We'll agree to differ on this one, I think :) .

Excuse me miss German Bight, but I do watch MTV, so your wrong there. Her voice is like a dog waiting to be put out of it's misery. And she sounds more like she's reading a sentence than singing a song. And as for videos, there part of the package these days. If it want for those, MTV wouldn't exist. Cal me bitchy all you want, coz I couldn't give a damn! I am right though.

Amy Winehouse is annoying me to the fullest! Who care's how she's been on a drug bender, sniffing KET and taking other hard drugs! She's loaded! People get in het state with less than a 10th of the ca$h she's got! U know what I mean? Near enough all music produced and made it into the top 40 since 2005/06 has been awfull. Bar the Arctic Monkeys (Ofcourse!) I hate all this "Fall Out Boy" crap and "My Chemical Romance" WTF!? I wish music would take a trip back into time back to the late 80's early 90's!

Amy Winemerchant: I'm running a sweepstake how long it is until she falls over at V. (If she turns up)
Apparently she was ok at LCCC but I'm afraid it was Winehouse or Cider? and the cider won.

I do quite like Rehab, Back to black and you know i'm no good but she needs a shave. Sorry!

p.s. i like Kate Nash.

P.p.s. Apart from Calvin Harris, I can't think of anything that's annoying me incessantly at the moment. I've even started thinking Mika's ok as he made me laugh on T4 the other day!

Just because she is not to your taste does not mean she is "the worst".

I like Amy Winehouse's album Back to Black. She's got a fantastic voice. I hope her career doesn't descend into her being nothing more than a boring tabloid drug taking character. Maybe she's having a "I've just got rich and famous!" bender then she'll be alright again.

Kate Nash's song is very catchy and I thought the video was quite good - all the retro stuff. My niece played some of her album at the weekend and I soon got bored of her swearing in a cockney accent. But nevermind.

Music that stinks this week.... I probably need to give it another listen but I bought Rufus Wainwrights album recently and found his voice very depressing and moany. (If that is a word).

Aw, Rufus Wainwright is great. I agree that his voice is something of an acquired taste though. He did a fantastically camp cover of 'Careless Whisper' with Ben Folds recently. The video (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=5564996) is a delight :hihi: .

It seemed to me that she's just got really popular and over-exposed so the British Press were right there ready to knock her down......

She over-did the partying a bit and made the mistake of using the "hair of the dog" recovery method a few too many times......

We've all been there! :hihi:

Sorry to hijack the thread but I've just heard that Elvis Presley is dead. That's unbelievable. I only saw him the other week at Groves Working Men's Club in York and he did a great set (accompanied by Stan on the organ).

No doubt they'll be releasing a Greatest Hits LP now, won't they?

PS: A little bit of inside info here. Did you know that when he'd finished playing his set he actually got a lift home from my friend Eric? Yeh. You'd think EP would have his own car wouldn't you? (And that he was staying in Hull, apparently....,)

Pah. What is the point of listening to Music that isn't in the charts? The charts are there to tell us what to listen to. They are the moniker of what is hot and what is not are they not? Everything should be charted in my opinion. I for one am tired of having to make my own mind up.
