I'd have thought she'd need more than that one bag of biscuits :o She must have quite a bit of dosh put away. I can't help feel sorry for them all shut up in that one room like that.

I thought I spotted a cat-flat in the other end of the room, so I suspect they only appear there at feeding time or to sleep, otherwise imagine how many litter trays she would need. They all looked in good condition.

You've got to be quite bonkers to take on that many cats, but hey, I do admire her for caring for and about them. 6 under my feet at feeding time is more than enough for me.

I cannot believe that she cares for them all correctly I think it is a bit extreme to be honest. They must be fighting it goes without saying. Overcaring can lead to neglect in these cases.:(

At the very least this is neglect- she cannot possibly care for them all adequately. Apart from anything else they must be bored witless with nothing but 4 walls to look at.

It does say they are not her cats but street cats that she feeds and shares with her home with so she probably sees as it as she is trying to help but I would assume that most of them are feral and only come at feed time.

yeah, that's how I interpreted it CV- I dont think they are locked up indoors. and if its a choice between scrounging on the streets and getting a free meal from the mad cat woman, I know which I would prefer.

Surely that must be illegal! Its cruel to keep them all in that room. God knows how many fleas must be in her house. How come they dont all mate wth each other. I'm sorry but no one can look after 130 cats!

They all look very healthy cats aswell which should be sign that they are being cared for.

Having had a quick Google, these are 'street cats' but she has rescued them and keeps them in that room - she lives in a flat and they don't leave and come back, it's where they also live. I'm with Medusa on this one - they may be kept fairly clean (as it appears on that video) but it cannot possibly be considered fair to keep that many animals cooped up in such a small room.

Hmm.. IF she keeps them there, can't see that being right and agree it's neglect and not fair on the cats but if they do come and go I'm with Katkin and CV.

It shocks me though that they all look in such good condition and there were no scraps between them! I only have two and they can't get in the same room without a scrap!

Well they certainly don't all mate: http://itn.co.uk/news/b57a8f5ba60fb748813e8aaa57d41642.html

Besides feeding them twice a day, once with porridge and once with dry cat food, Kostsovo also makes sure all male cats are castrated

They are all kept in which I don't like the idea of but as they say, it's Siberia, the temperatures plummet very low so it's not like street cats here in the UK.

I think, despite them, in my opinion not having the space they need, they are kept warm, she says the hardest part is finding names for them all and giving each one individual time but they do get that, they're castrated which has got to help to an extent, they're fed porridge and dry cat food each day, and apart from the noise they make, they've caused no reason for the neighbours to complain (they haven't complained about the noise but did say it's uncomfortable of an evening).

So... I suppose I'd rather see her take in and castrate a cat, then let it out again and encourage it to come back for food and shelter, but she seems pretty dedicated even if it's slightly misguided.
