Don't quote me on this but there is or used to be a zoo at a place called Riber Castle and that is within easy driving distance.

The zoo at Riber Castle closed quite a while ago. The animals were dispersed to other collections and the site has been sold for development. :(

There was a stuffed lion in Clifton Park Museum!

There was a mini zoo in Clifton Park I think, but it was squirrals and stuff in there mainly. I think it's long gone.

Go to town next Friday night and you will see people behaving like they should be in a zoo.

I may be some years out of date but is there not an AQUARIUM in Botanical Gardens, in one of those buildings next to the old plant houses and Aviary. Smallish building but it has many tanks full of fish in it.

of course I have not been there since about 1990 so I dont know if these are still there......

Last time I went there there was 2 big plant houses full of tropical dead plants (dont know why they were all dead) and an Aviary full of red budgies and parrots and stuff. Probably gone now?

Not exactly a zoo, but Heeley City Farm is quite fun, especially for kids, and is very close!

Goldenfleece, I don't think there are any fish or birds at the botanical gardens since it was re-developed. Which is a shame - it'd be a nice thing to see! However, the crystal pavilions are now full of living plants again! :) Lovely to visit the botanical gardens - at least, when the weather warms up aain! ^^'
