View Full Version : Verbal abuse and threats at Crystal Peaks
Having breifly popped to Crystal Peaks to drop a cheque at the bank there was a lot of competition for spaces.
I went to the lower car park by blockbusters and saw a chap coming out so I moved out of his way and reversed right up to blockbusters so he could reverse to his right and then drive away.
My Psycho (driving the other car) then gets out and tells me to move cos he wants to reverse to his left. Neither direction is of greater benefit so I said no.
Mr Psycho then launches into a tirade of abuse about his elderly disabled mother being in the car and I'd better move or he'd see to it.
My response - no, you can reverse the other way.
This goes on, he threatens to fetch his brother who isn't like him apparently and is known to rip peoples heads off. Then he parks his car in front of mine. So I slipped mine out of gear, put the handbrake on and crossed my arms, since now I can't go anywhere even if I want to. I would have left it there too except I would have been blocking other people in and he would have done some damage.
Then he starts abusing my partner. So I asked him to fetch security.
In the end my partner was worried and asked me to just let him have his way.
I resentfully moved. I don't like to give in to bullies.
Having been threatened by this man I want to do something about it, although neither of us had the presence of mind to take his registration details.
Should I report him, get the details from Crystal peaks security cameras etc? Or is it best left alone.
I feel that I let a bully win who will just continue to do the same to other female drivers and perhaps more forcibly.
I would just put it down to experience. It sounds like you were both stubborn. Security would not be intrested. Put it down to stress of the season. Security would not really do anything, i used to be an officer there. They would just ensure you kept calm and diddnt start fighting. The car park in the area around the Blockbuster has got a one way system which may also be the reason for the argument.
Yep I'm stubborn, I'll agree to that one.:S
The only reason I wanted security was to prevent the guy attacking me, my fella or my car.
The one way system doesn't affect the last parking bay before the Wilkinsons loading bay.
If he reversed to his right he would have then been facing the right way to join the main arterial route out of the car park.
If he reversed left he would still be facing the right way but would have to take a sharp left first before joining the main route.
I just feel I've let a bully get away with it and that goes against the grain with me:(
i love it when people say `i'll get my brother' `my dad' `do you know who i am' `i know people who kill people for less' blah blah haha..
idiots :D
you did well standing your ground. i would have sat there all day  i was at that blockbuster at bout 3pm... damn i must have just missed all the action!
p.s. my dad is tougher than urs! nur nur nur
This problem seems to have been caused in part by Crystal Peaks closing half their car parks for building works, and not providing an adiquate alternative.
There was a previous thread on this - I emailed the link to Crystal Peaks inviting them to reply on the forum, but they declined.
micksheff 24-12-2004, 16:34 People turn into animals at Crystal Car park.
You could have been fined £40 if you had left your car causing an obstruction.
I think you could have both handled the situation better.
You should have let him reverse how he liked, I would have been well happy to get a parking place outside block buster
My you're a cheerful chap! I DIDN'T park to cause an obstruction so the fine is irrelevent.
Why exactly should I let him reverse how he likes? Like a child throwing a tantrum because they can't have a red ball because there are only blue?
Giving into people like that makes them worse.
After thought, I'm happy with my decision, I only wish I had stood my ground longer.
Merry Christmas
Internetowl 26-12-2004, 18:24 Stand your ground - I'd have took the tyre iron out the boot and showed him the direction :) Then I'm not known for tact or diplomacy.
Well done Zebra..
yorkiepudd 26-12-2004, 18:53 I always think it better to keep your dignity and not to stoop down to the level of idiots like this. I used to get really wound up at people like that, but not any more. Hold your head up high and leave them to it.....
1Man&hisBMW 27-12-2004, 05:04 they always start on the verbal abuse when they haven't got any beef behind their fists. nothing a thump in the gob wouldnt fix.
BoroughGal 27-12-2004, 08:05 And I would have done exactly the same as you. 'Cept I wouldn't have moved. Well done.

You mean 'Might is Right' ? ;)
In the US some people actually carry loaded hand guns in their cars to settle such disputes - less messy than fisticuffs, and no teethmarks in your knuckles.
Why didn't your partner stick up for you? Did he just sit there whilst his girlfriend was being threatened? I know what I would've done, I would've got out the car stood right up to him and made him feel about as small as he probably was.
My son was in a line of traffic and a loudmouth in the oncomming traffic wanted to get into a parking space on my sons side of the road. Loudmouth started shouting at him to get out of the way so he could get into it. of course in aline of traffic until someone moves you have nowhere to go, so loudmouth starts calling him an fing wk. My three year old grand daughter was in the car but that did'nt stop the abuse.
my son let him go on a bit longer then showed loudmouth his warrent card and loudmouth drove off.
The moral is be careful who you mouth of to if you are in the wrong
fnkysknky 27-12-2004, 17:59 What's he going to do with his warrant card if he is off duty - tickle him with it?

I think they are stating it was used as a threat as opposed to being followed through.

More likely call for his mates from the nick.

Thats the way to do it ;) Shoot from the hip, last man standing takes the place :) (and the other persons car if its better then theirs) :)
As was once famously said... 'if you gonna shoot, shoot....dont talk' ;)
But more seriously though, joking aside, no need to take abuse off anyone, especially if there is enough room for the to get out.

A police officer can still arrest someone if he's off duty and they're commiting a crime....
