Is anybody interested in forming a music appreciation club? bit like a book club with different pieces- of all tastes, Sibelius to Stewart- played . Sort of introducing your favourite music and being open to other tastes?

Sort of introducing your favourite music and being open to other tastes? Agent Orange 10-08-2007, 12:13 sounds like a possibility... i like a good tune and sure many others on here do also. good networking tool and could expand it further to gig meets etc etc Artygirl 10-08-2007, 12:59 Yes, be really up for it; way forwARD? Agent Orange 10-08-2007, 14:05 Yes, be really up for it; way forwARD? suppose it also depends on what gigs you would be seen dead at? my next gig is at corp as im seeing sepultura :) neeeeeeeeeek 10-08-2007, 14:11 Meeeeeeeeeee melthebell 10-08-2007, 19:32 beethoven to slayer Tarquin 10-08-2007, 20:56 Yep, up for that:) Agent Orange 23-08-2007, 07:31 Is this gonna get off the ground? There are plenty of gigs coming up soon and it would be cool to maybe arrange some mini meets at these gigs etc. melthebell 23-08-2007, 09:07 i appreciate the wurzuls errrrrrrrrrrm leviathan13 01-09-2007, 11:39 Sounds good to me. A lot of what I'm in to my brother and mates aren't, and I don't like going to gigs alone. I recently missed out on Akercocke at the Corp and looks like I won't be getting to see Apocalyptica in Manchester in December. Plus, I like the idea of gatherings to listen to whole different types of music as a group and discussing it with cool people and a glass of something nice. melthebell 01-09-2007, 16:30 Plus, I like the idea of gatherings to listen to whole different types of music as a group and discussing it with cool people and a glass of something nice. dont get too giddy :P Droog 16-10-2007, 01:22 At the risk of sounding trite, I'd like to. However I think, perhaps, realistically it wouldn't work...Good luck though. leviathan13 16-10-2007, 08:24 Why wouldn't it work? Surely all it'd be is a bunch of us meeting somewhere, playing some of our favourite tracks and possibly opening others' ears to something they may not have heard before. How difficult can it be? BasilRathbon 28-12-2007, 11:28 Did this ever get off the ground? mr.blaze 28-12-2007, 11:39 Might be worth a crack, I'd be interested :) leviathan13 28-12-2007, 12:33 Did this ever get off the ground? Sadly not. I'd still be up for it though. Even if it's just sitting in a pub talking about it. BasilRathbon 28-12-2007, 13:07 Sadly not. I'd still be up for it though. Even if it's just sitting in a pub talking about it. Actually doing it in a pub's an excellent idea as, if you can find an agreeable landlord, you could use the pub's PA to play the music and thus hear it at its best. (well not technically "best", but everything sounds better when it's played loud through big speakers, doesn't it?) leviathan13 28-12-2007, 15:20 Actually doing it in a pub's an excellent idea as, if you can find an agreeable landlord, you could use the pub's PA to play the music and thus hear it at its best. Do you know any? Sadly not, but I think our forum member "GoldenFleece" might be worth asking, as he runs the Dove & Rainbow in town. Not sure how the locals would react to an evening of Tibetan Noseflute HipCrunge, but it might be worth a try. ;) leviathan13 28-12-2007, 15:40 Sadly not, but I think our forum member "GoldenFleece" might be worth asking, as he runs the Dove & Rainbow in town. Sounds good to me. A lot of what I'm in to my brother and mates aren't, and I don't like going to gigs alone. I recently missed out on Akercocke at the Corp and looks like I won't be getting to see Apocalyptica in Manchester in December. I regularly go to gigs on me own! Mates/family/wife don't like the same stuff as i do, but why should i miss out? I'd rather stand on my own and see a good band than sit at home and wonder what i'm missing. Went to that Akercocke gig on my own, it was blindin'. Great support as well! Agent Orange 28-12-2007, 17:09 I'm still interested!! mr.blaze 28-12-2007, 17:33 I might be able to sort somewhere out. leviathan13 31-12-2007, 08:39 I might be able to sort somewhere out. Well what are we waiting for? |
