All of my life Man & boy i have lived on Parson Cross,i have raised my kids on S5,Went to meynell & chaucer schools, paid my way all of my life, but the time is now right to sell up & move.
Originally i lived in Doe royd cres with my parents, lived on Colley aswell,& also on Lytton .
I bought my council house on Wordsworth Ave just over 3 years ago for a song & since sold it for a healthy profit. My new home will not be on a council estate(nothing against council estates) but council houses are now given out to the wrong sorts. My kids cannot get a council house because they are either (1) Working (2) Not single parents (3)White.
What is happening now on't Cross is criminal, single mothers are taking over,Immigrants are taking council properties & how much are these 2 groups paying in rent/council tax ? not a great deal i suppose.
May i thank Margeret Hilda Thatcher for me being able to buy my council house then sell it for a profit enaballing me to better myself & a better quality of life away from my beloved Parson Cross.
And before the bleeding heart brigade start harpin on about buying council houses start dont bother, all council tenants have a right to buy... I did.

So single parents and "immigrants" are bad and shaft us "good people"? Hmmmm - I assume you've got the good ol' Union Flag flying high and voting BNP.

I prefer my life.

:loopy: The guy's explained that he's lived in the area for 47 years but now things are changing - and not for the better.

.........and that gives him the right to judge and chastise single parents and people who have recently moved to our City - bit rich from someone who is revelling in having creamed the system by selling off the house built for disadvantaged people at a personal profit. Be interested to know if he voted for the reverred Mrs. Thatcher in 1979 and 1983 to enable him to do so (and if so how he squared it with his chums in the mining and steel works locally).

It's a shame the OP couldnt help tarring all single mothers and imigrants with the same brush.

I live between Firth Park and Fir Vale and have been advised by locals not to go to the cross because it is too dangerous. (I have only been in Shefield a year and a half)

I also know one young man who was mugged by three young women up there! He was too embarrassed to report it to the police.

bloke that gave me the advice was a taxi driver. He said he would not accept fares to or from there. Dunno if he has a bad experience or what?

Have to admit the only real contact I have had is the young man who was mugged by three young women. They pushed him to the ground and stole his wallet. That sounds pretty dangerous to me.

I left London to get away from this sort of thing.

Yes his ego was bruised more than anything else. He was just so shocked to be taken by women. It is the last thing you expect.

This is a Black Cab Driver who lives across the road from me. Parson Cross and the Manor are territories he won't go into.

Thats a bit harsh, I know it has its issues but a no go area!! I think I must live in a bubble on T'cross, cos never had any problems at all. :)

i have noticed a high rate of prams being pushed by bits of kids growing. A lass who is single mother across from my mums house is about 15 years old if that and she has her own house.
I think the trouble area is from the Magnet upto the Brooke and cross ways from Chaucer school to Longley Park in that area. But that is just my view on the biggest trouble area.

So you reckon it is OK? Not sure why I would want to go there. What is up there? All know is that I was warned off and then someone I know was mugged up there by young women.

Its a large council estate with couple of pubs, shops and a helluva load of genuine friendly folk.:clap:

surprisingly I don't think the council can grant tenancies to 15 year olds....and why are you watching young girls on your estate? That sounds a bit dubious.

I don't blame pxowl for a moment in using the right to buy scheme to line his pockets. The system is in place so you'd be a fool not to take advantage. Asset stripping is an extremely popular way of making money these days and as long as the loopholes remain, you may as well.

Load of rubbish :loopy:my nan and myself lived on the cross I live on shiregreen now and I have lived on quite a few areas of sheffield some council some not.Although you can't tar everyone with the same brush ie single parents some of which work and pay their way, I agree with the first post to an extent.I and my partner both work own our own home [council wouldnt give us one because we both were working!!]It seems that if you work ,pay your way and don't do anything criminal you don't get on.Same as kids that don't hang around causing trouble and being rude to the elderly and do well at school they don't get special treatment or rewarded either:mad:
