Art in the Park presents....

Get Fired Up About Philadelphia!

Events with Clay, Summer ‘07

@ Philadelphia Green Space, Fox Road, Upperthorpe

Come and get stuck into working with clay at our Summer events!

Working with the ceramicist Natasha Light, you will learn everything you need to let your creativity run wild!

Part 1: Jurassic Park

Monday 6th August, 2-5pm

Something prehistoric is happening in the park! Make clay dinosaur heads, explore the space and photograph your work in it. Plus, get to work with the artist Natasha Light to glaze and fire ceramics with our on-site Raku kiln!

Part 2: Making Tracks

Wednesday 15th August 2-5pm

Use all your senses as you follow our trail around the park. Taking inspiration from the green space, we will make giant footprints with clay, to be placed around the park.

Part 3: Up in Flames!

Saturday 25th August 2-5pm

Add colour to the dinosaurs with glazes, and then watch the transformation as they are fired in our Raku kiln. Share your dreams for Philadelphia as you position the footprint stepping stones in the park.

Everyone welcome! These events are free and for all ages to participate in. Free refreshments are provided. We hope to see you there!

How to find the events:

Follow the chalk arrows!

All these events are at Philadelphia, which is a small green space between Fox Road and Infirmary Road in Upperthorpe.

The closest tram stop is actually Langsett Road, Primrose View. Trams go frequently to this stop from the City Centre on the Meadowhall-Middlewood line. From there, walk back towards town until you reach Whitehouse Road on the right. Turn up it, and then take your second left onto Fox Road and the entrance to Philadelphia is on your left. The Number 81 and 82 buses also run from Ecclesall Road and City Centre to Langsett Road.

See our website for more info about Art in the Park and pictures from previous events
