Hi there,
My husband has just accepted a job in Sheffield and he'll be starting work in less than 3 weeks, so we'll need to find a house to live in (we're still renting) very soon!!! I don't know the area at all but I've done a bit of research and - I think - I I've read every single thread in the Living/Moving forum, so I was wondering if you could tell me which of the following is the best* area to live in:

Fulwood
Lodge Moor
Ranmoor
Brincliffe
Totley
Ecclesall

*Best: nice, lots of green areas, 1 or more shops, good bus links, safe.

We'll go to Sheffield after Xmas to see what Sheffield is like!

Thanks a lot for your help!!!!!!

ps: I know there are other areas like Whirlow, Dore, etc. etc. etc., but I haven't been able to find houses/flats, etc. etc. there.

Any of those you have picked are great areas and near to green open spaces to be fair.

Not cheap tho I must add.

The question is

1 Whats your budget?
2 Where is your husbands job and how much travel time do you think excessive?

If you are just wanting to get somewhere to rent short term while you look for something else more permanent then those areas you mentioned are fine.

When you come to buy - thats the point where there is a really big difference in prices.

Thanks for the replies!
My husband has no problem commuting. I've also been researching areas in Nottingham & Leeds but Sheffield seems to be the best so far as he'll be working there! (young st. I think it's called)
The budget is up to £650

If you dont know Sheffield then renting in any of those areas is an ideal compromise.
They are all lovely bits of town and are served with public transport.

Where are you moving from?

Good luck

As everyone has said, all bits you've mentioned are lovely.

However, some of Ecclesall has a lot of student housing, which can make it a little on the noisy side in the wee small hours.
