From a quick Google, I'm not sure whether this is a Trojan or not: keeps throwing up bad and confusing links... Has she installed any smiley pack into MSN by any chance...?

According to a Yahoo reply it's spyware. Have a look here. (http://sg.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070720081458AAgASbK)

That Yahoo link doesn't really say anything about it, apart from saying "it's spyware" and saying download Windows Defender or go to a link that doesn't work - which is an example of the confusing and bad links I found on Google. I think the OP should make sure his friend has the usual AV, anti-spyware, anti-Trojan stuff installed and run.

sounds like shes got probs ... says avg picked it up & got rid & did a restore (before i came online)(but the msg is still coming) the message seems to originate from fun buddy icons ..... it comes up on my screen as normal type like in OP ... NOT A LINK (cannot click on it)..... will it affect me ?

Yeah, that was one of the links I found on Google, which is why I mentioned the smiley pack. She really needs to get some protection on her PC if she hasn't already done so.

There's some info about removing Fun Buddy icons here (http://www.pchell.com/support/funbuddyicons.shtml), but would she be able to follow that?
