View Full Version : Voice coaching?
Can anyone recommend a vocal coach/tutor. I need to learn what to do properly and I need to do it soon.
Can't afford expensive lessons but certianly willing to pay.
Any ideas?
To get the right coach it might be an idea to say what style of singing you're into. Any tutor suggesting it makes no difference should be avoided.
nthngescapes 31-08-2007, 22:19 hey I'm interested in finding the right coach I'm in a band which plays melodic rock some parts of songs I sing quite softly and others I have to shout / sing loudly however I dont do any of that screaming crap that sum bands do. how do I find the right coach?
guitar_bob 31-08-2007, 22:54 Could try http://www.myspace.com/aliheathcook. I think she teaches at yellow arch ? studios but could be wrong. Her details are on her myspace.

I suggest you contact Red Rocker on the forum. He is a semi professional singer with years of experience. He does teach many vocal styles but mainly rock vocalists. I'm sure he will give you a hand.

If anyone would like to contact me regarding vocal lessons, feel free. I will give you the first lesson for free, usually in the form of a consultation. If I don't think I can help I will let you know. I will also work with you to plan your development. It all depends on what you want to get out of it all. Please feel free to PM me.
Classic Rock 03-10-2007, 12:14 Ooooh, count me in for this. My singing needs improving.

mijjman1 16-02-2011, 13:25 There's alot of interest here, but Kate Hogan is very good. It does depend on what style you want for which teacher you have, she does lessons down at Practice Sheffield. She also hovers around on Sheffield Forum
BandTogether 28-02-2011, 20:09 Thank you :) Yes, I teach down at Practice Sheffield and specialise in contemporary vocal technique. If you want to ask any questions - about lessons or just singing in general - just give me a shout :)
If you don't want to spend on a teacher a good book is 'Set your voice free' by Roger Love - comes with a cd.
MadChick 20-07-2011, 18:26 I want to learn to sing. Not sure if i can sing? Not sure what style....like Katie Melua, Celine Dion, Carpenters...all sorts really.....even rock music. Not opera though
So i would like to come see someone who i can get to easily on Tram route in sheffield I live out S20 Area. maybe for a consultation.....I am slightly shy about singing but this is something i have wanted to do for many years......
BandTogether 20-07-2011, 22:16 I'd recommend Kate too.

Hey MadChick, I'm based down at Practice Sheffield which is about a 5min walk from Shalesmoor tram stop. I specialise in contemporary vocals, I'm not a classical singing tutor. If you've got any questions about lessons feel free to ask. You can find more information on me and the lessons that I offer at www.sheffieldsinginglessons.co.uk (http://www.sheffieldsinginglessons.co.uk)
focusedhypno 11-10-2011, 12:42 I have been using Gillian Cally for the last three weeks for help with my voice. As someone who talks all day to my hypnotherapy clients it is very important to me that my voice is in good condition but I found that I was always having a sore throat and it actually became quite difficult to work.
Within one session Gillian had shown me some exercises that helped immediately and since then I have had no problems at all with my voice.
As a result of her help I am now looking at other ways I can utilize my voice and its range in helping me to be even more effective when providing hypnotherapy.
I can't recommend Gillian enough. If you want to contact her call 01142373797
