What do I want for my birthday? I'm so full of work at the moment I don't seem to be coveting anything. This is most unlike me. Help me make it stop by finding me lovely things to nag my bf for!

Gift vouchers to Amazon for knitting books, gift vouchers to just about anywhere you normally shop, a set of Knitpicks needles from Get Knitted, theatre vouchers, a subscription to a magazine... Is that enough yet? If you have vouchers you don't have much to unwrap but you do get to buy exactly what you want when you have the time to shop for it.

I'm sure Jill, at the Wool Baa does gift vouchers....

Get him to buy you the gift vouchers, then you can have a totally fabbo time browsing/ choosing exactly what you want.

P "I'll have one of these, please and one of those... three of them.. two of that...." T

Yes, gift vouchers - great idea. Sometimes you forget you have them and then it's a pleasant surprise when you come across them in the draw and even better when you spend them in a sale and get loads and loads of stash! Or a nice pretty box of chocs that are very expensive for what they are and you wouldn't usually buy them for yourself. A family day out?

I love Rowan's Beads, Buttons and Lace (http://www.colourway.co.uk/rowan/bbl/bbl.htm). This (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pursuit-Love-Nancy-Mitford/dp/0140007113/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/026-2454538-7954810?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1186504376&sr=8-1) book too, perfect to knit to.

Then again, I got a fish tank and fish for Christmas from my boyfriend, and it's possibly the best present I've ever had.

*Whispers in your ear* Socks That Rock....Socks That Rock! That's what I got for my birthday. Gift vouchers always come in useful though.

Whilst vouchers are nice there's always something a bit special about them actually choosing something for you. I'd send him to the Wool Baa and tell him to ask advice from Jill, but to choose something himself.

For mother's day my badger boy bought me 2 balls of DB cotton which he decided on all by himself - even though the colour wasn't necessarily what I'd have picked, I thought it was amazing that he'd gone to the trouble of really trying to find something I liked rather than fobbing me off with a voucher.

Where can you buy socks that rock?

Is there any old lady with itchy fingers who's lost for what to do? You must have Purple hair, glasses that hang on the end of your nose, wear a pinny and sit in a rocking chair a lot.

Anyway...enough of the stereotyping. Who's up for doing me a bit of knitting? I can provide a pattern and wool.

Here's what I'd like.

A pocketed hooded scarf (chunky) for a 14yr old.

Any takers?
