Thinking of buying a new Clio and wondered if anyone here had any experiences with that dealership?

Thanks

Before (or if) you put pen to paper check out Direct Cars near Crystal Peaks, very competitive prices and absolutely no pressure from salesmen as they're salary paid (not commission based).

I'd rather eat my own eyeballs than buy a car from them LOL! Do a search for Reg Vardy - there has been a thread on them before!

There have been a number of threads actually, including:

The dealership has changed hands to Evans Halshaw now, but as far as I know most of the staff have remained.

I haven't owned a Renault for 7 months now, so I can't comment on whether the build quality of Renaults and the standard of service of the dealers has improved.

Incidentally, having owned a renault, I would never buy another!

I got mine from there.

No problems with it, but it is my first car so have absolutely nothing to compare it with.

We managed to get a grand off the asking price too...somehow! :D

Will second that....too many Fridays in the French working week ;)

For a cheap to run and reliable little car there are the Toyota Yaris and the Honda Jazz, and if you're not too worried about your image the Hyundai Getz.

I cant comment on the cars but the staff at Evans Halshaw were a joke when we were looking last month.

Totally unprofessional. Unless you dont mind being called "mate" all the time. Also we were being dealt with by one guy who needed help with the pc as he was new. His "boss" who was helping actually went out for a fag break in the middle and came back stinking of fags. Very creepy bloke.

I was trading in my old car and they went to inspect it - totally OTT. Spent ages looking around the car making a note of every scratch. In the end, we said to him "look, what are you doing, we know its not worth all this, we just was a reduction off a new car and for it to be taken off our hands". In reality, it meant while one bloke was inspecting the car the other was doing the hard sell.

In the end we gave up and walked out. Would not go there again.

Did go to Pentagon across the road, absolute opposite type of sales. No hassles from the salespeople and all A-OK so far. (I am taking the car in tomorrow though to repair a scratch and investigate a noise). Would recommend them based on my experience.

1. Eccy Road Renault - Don't do it. :loopy:

2. If you want a Renault dealer go to Ezra Sugden in Worksop

3. Better still try the web and see what www.drivethedeal.com brokers can do for you getting discounts on new models with delivery and road tax included as all inclusive prices on cars supplied by mainline dealers.

Thats probably cos it was £1200 overpriced in the first place. Had a look at RV last year and was far from impressed with the overall set up.

Lets just say after my extensive dealings with this brand of automobiles, that I would try a toyota first ;)

Don't buy french cars, they are utter crap and don't go any where near Reg Vardy/Evans Halshaw etc.... Rob Dogs!

Nuff Said, if you still go, put on your anti rape pants and be prepared to be bent over the salesmans desk and soundly thrashed about the wallet.

I used to deal with them on a professional basis and know all their tricks, dodgy lot. I think I posted something on the original thread about their credit practices.

Direct Cars OK, check out the tinternet for other supermarkets, I think there is one in Chesterfield thats ok as well.

Where have they relocated to? It's not listed yet in the Renault dealerships list.

610 Penistone Road
Sheffield
South Yorkshire
S6 2FZ
Yet, they haven't changed the map:
htt p :// ww w.evanshalshaw .com/-dealer--1134.html

(I can't post web links yet, minimum 5 posts not reached, so please delete the spaces.)

I believe they have combined with the other Evans Halshaw on Penistone Road.

Ah- OK. Thanks.

Not that I am planning on getting another car from them, it's just handy to know if I ever need to know where my local Renault dealers is. It's even more local to me there.

Took my grand scenic there for the 1st time and they rip me off badly. The customer service was really poor and they were very stroppy when I had to replace the front display (through no fault of my own).

All in all, I would never EVER buy another renault. crap cars and crap customer service at an extortionate price.

If they moved out of Eccy Rd, all the better for the area. Anything they put there will be better than a *****ty french car dealership. :hihi:
