Hi,

We are back from a week at Ingoldmells and I would just like to thank the people who gave me really positive advice on what a great place it is to take your dogs!
We had the most amazing time and they loved their first experience of the beach! We couldn't get them out of the sea! :) We took them in the pubs, amusements, markets, shops etc... and they loved spending every moment with us and all the new smells and people. Its such a dog friendly place and the staff in the pubs/shops cant do enough for you and your dogs!
I think Molly & Pippa thought the caravan was our new home! :hihi:

fab day by the look of it- we're off to the cside shortly for a day with fambly n Ailsa gets to meet her new baby cousing snoops (boxer pup). Hoping she'll show him the ropes - I remember what a big wuss she was about water when she was younger- now, we' can't get her out of it!

looks wonderful... we fancy a day out with Shea... wanted to take her to the seaside (as she hasn't been there yet), and not to far to go...

Thought Dogs weren't allowed on the beach at this time of year?
(I may be wrong)

although i havent taken my dogs to ingoldmells i have been loads of times and have noticed what a dog friendly place it is. There's water bowls outside shops and pubs etc and there's not many places that would let you take your pets in to shop with you ie the market.

Cleethorpes is a great place to try if you ve got a dog n dont want to travel too far- if you take Shea out to the far end just beyond the swimming pool place, dogs are allowed on that beach during the season and its great - lots of sand dunes, pools and places to play.

We also like Cayton Bay just outside Scarborough - you can play in the sea and its usually very quiet, then go into Scaroborough for fish n chips

Today, we've been to Donna Nook/ Summercotes nr Mabelthorpe (family outing) and Ailsa got to meet her baby dog 'cousin' Snoops the boxer pup. Great day but much too hot (for me n for 'nellie)- despite all our best precautions, Ailsa got over heated (the perils of owning a black dog) and we had to cover her in wet towels and rehydrate her. It's very difficult to keep a dog in the shade and too dangerous to put her in the car, so we always carry plewnty of cool water and towels and can usually gauge it so she doesnt get too much sun, but of course today ended up being TOO sunny... She was poorly in the car so first job at home after seeing to Nellie was to scrub the back seat (even with car seat covers it had soaked through- yuk).

She's still a bit off-colour now but that's as much to do with her getting too giddy and drinking disgusting sea water. Shes had plenty of fluids and electrolytes, so should be fine tomorrow but suspect she wont want to go out for a walk as she is totally worn out, poor baby.

Mention the word 'sea-side' and she is like a big kid- gets excited and wants to paddle -doesnt comprehend that the seaside in question is about an hour and a half away...'are we there yet'?

Oh- when we go to Cleethorpes they have lots of water bowls outside shops and you can take dogs into the indoor market area too

Aah bless 'em, I am so looking forward to taking to my dogs to the beach, they love running around in open spaces and I have often wondered what they would make of the sand between their toes.
