What does everyone make of this: -

http://www.myfootballclub.co.uk/

I think it's a good idea and as the website says they have a significant amount of members already. The sort of money produced from the £35 membership fee from the 53,000 members would be enough for a club like Accrington Stanley to climb the leagues(with the added support of the new fans).

It would be good if it takes off, the idea is a good one in principle in my opinion. Though I'm not sure if the idea of the fans picking the team and making decisions on transfers would work in the real world.

This has now been agreed, it should be very interesting indeed to see how this goes. For a club such as Ebbsfleet surely the funds provided should be enough to get them some good players in January to push them into the Football League. Though the thought of the fans picking players for a team they've never watched is an odd one. I may join and when Wednesday are away one week have a trip there. ALways good to support a non league team, which could be a good success story. It's either going to go really well or t*ts up.

Ummm I'm pretty sure it is yep. There in the National Conference which is now know as the Blue Square Conference, one league below The Football League (League Two).

I give it about six months, before the shareholders who are getting outvoted and seeing players brought in that they think are rubbish, deciding to take their money back out and collapsing the entire project.

Blue Square Premier - Ebbsfleet are in ninth place. They were formerly known as Gravesend and Northfleet.

The idea of fan ownership is an interesting one, and has worked in a slightly different form with a clutch of Spanish clubs.

However, what alarms me is the news that the fans will vote on team selection and formations. Surely this will only create farcical mishaps if the manager is publicly undermined by the clubs own supporters, it's Football Manager gone mad. If the fans pick the team, and it loses, does the manager still take the blame?

Nottingham Forest were still a "members club" when they won the two European Cups under Brian Clough. I don't think the members got to tell Cloughie who to put on the field though!!

I asked the guys at thepeoplesclub.com who are another buy your own club site about this and they said the fans can harldy sing "you don't know what you're doing" to one another

It has now been pointed out to the club's directors that allowing the fans to vote on formation and player selection may actually be illegal, since it's hard to demonstrate that they would be doing their duty to take care of shareholders' investments by allowing such a procedure. (Most of the people voting have zero qualifications and even less experience in the football field...)

Think this thread is worth a bump - I've been a member for just over a year now and the renewal is coming up on Feb 19th and it could be a great time to get involved with it.

http://www.MyFootballClub.co.uk is well worth the £15 / Quarter.

its a farce - no one is allowed to pick the team - and they have lost like 80% of the people who signed up the first year
