I'm thinking of buying a dvd recorder to replace an ailing vhs recorder. Does anybody own one, either with or without hdd? I've looked at a couple but they are limited to 6 hours recording onto disc (12 if you come home off holiday and turn the disc over). The ones with hdd seem a trifle pricey but do have the advantage of being able to hold many more hours.

Any recommendations, advice welcome.

Thanks. Does that allow you to link direct to sound surround speakers or will I need a receiver? I might pop into richersounds and ask their advice but it's nicer to get independent views, too.

yeah, its got DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 as well but only records in Dolby Nicam Stereo (i know the phillips DVDrecorders only do Dolby)

i know Nick[Blarg] actually owns one, so he'll be able to tell you more about living with one ;)

Panasonic also do a HDD/DVD Recorder... but its about £800 :o
