Can anyone give us a quick run down on the food at the Chequers?

depends what you're after.

if you just can't be @rsed to cook one night a decide to go out with the kids then it's ok. If it's any sort of occasion then go somewhere that does proper food!

It's ok as a pub chain goes. I don't know what some people expect when it's so cheap?

Seconded... went there a while ago now and it was grubby with food on the floor etc. Not very clean! Also has been said, the food wasn't terrible but wasn't brilliant either.

Also, whatever you do don't go to the Black-a-Moor further along Eckington Road! Was there last week and the food was awful... like it's been cooked the night before then reheated, shame coz it used to be a nice place to go.

Used to love the Blackamoor a few years back. As for the Chequers and Two for One's as a whole I've never had a bad experience. You get what you pay for.

I think its a case of you pay your money and take your choice. You could go to this chain pub with it's wacky warehouse thing for the kids, pool table, pint of Carling mate and average food at low prices, or head down hill to Dronfield to the Coach & Horses where there is top quality real ale and continental biers, nice food cooked from fresh ingredients and smart surroundings but you will pay much higher prices.

Don't bother! Went last year and had a sunday lunch. The lunch was a microwaved lunch from Asda or Morrisons. Absolutely terrible!

At the end of the day, at 2 for 1 what do you expect. The food is ok, and like already said, ideal for a time when you dont feel like cooking. Not a place for a special occasion though.
