I was about to say the same thing- ouch!

Poor Beano- I hope there's a full recovery soon.

Ailsa has problems with one of her back legs - if she goes lary on a run/walk, sometimes she gets temporay lameness - the vets suspect she may develop a cruciate ligament injury but last time she was due to have an xray to check it, she suddenly improved so much they decided not to put her through the stress of being knocked out.

It's a common canine injury - kind of like when an athlete or a footballer twists awkwardly and damages their knee. We have to be careful with her - it is much easier to treat in smaller dogs than larger ones (some larger dogs it works on, some not, I guess because they tend to carry a lot more weight).

Hope Beano mends well.

I believe this type of ligament repair is pretty new it involves breaking the bone and setting it at a different angle, it's supposed to have a greater success rate than all the other forms of surgery with large dog. The recovery time is 90 days. The first 30 days the dog cannot walk more than a few yards to his business and even the one four inch step I have has to be ramped.

slightly OT but I would recomend everyone with a pet to get insurance the bill so far is £1480.00 and will rise to over £2000.00
