Hi every one my name is neil ,im just conducting some reseach into sports equipment design for my university course.

My question is that: -

Do you feel that the sports equipment relies to heavily on branding and less on perfomance for the user?

i would most grateful if anyone could answer as this would help me.
let me know if you can think of an other problems

thank you
neil

As a fencer I don't feel that sports equipment branding is an issue. If the equipment works and is reasonably priced I use it.

What I object to is shops purporting to be Sports Equipment shops that only stock football shirts and trainers.

You state 'sports equipment' - do you mean clothing or the equipment itself?

Equipment is usually pretty good, but it's quality is advertising for the clothing and footwear, which is often substandard.

Of course some of the manufacturers now produce 'streetwear', which is a different thing again.

As i do speedway quality is needed. And to be honest companies that make products that do not have the right performance would go out of buisiness very quickly cos if one rider says its not good then the rest will pass it on.So in my sport they have to focus on performance but obviously alot don't and they do go out of buisiness quickly.
