I'm meant to be meeting some old friends at the Peacock Inn in Stannington. I'm not sure if I can be bothered though. Can anyone recommend this place or tell me what it's like to help me make my mind up?

its a decent enough pub owned by Thwaites. They do some nice meals and it is reasonably priced for a village pub. Some good characters in there aswell.

I would go if i were you its a very nice traditional pub with decent beer. Prices are reasonable and theres always enough people in there to create a nice atmosphere

I used to work up that way, regularly used to pop in for a spot of lunch with my co worker - cant fault the meals, decent portions, decent prices and they do a mean prawn baguette! Cant speak for the beer (as was working) or the night time crowd, but daytime is very chilled and laid back, lovely boozer to while away the hours instead of going back to work!!

Sadly, I have heard this too of late. I think the management has changed recently and standards have slipped. Such a shame as it used to be a really nice pub.
