No ko today at the Springfield only 4 players turned up what was the score in todays interleague game Barnsley v Punchbowl (Sheffield Crookes)

We lost 10 - 8 from 6 - 3 up, the wheels fell off not helped by 2 dodgy reffing decisions in the later frames (16 & 17)

Just as bad with your frame, being told that you would have 2 shots called if you played the push shot (which is allowed in world rules), even after the match Bob was still insisting that it would be impossible to push without hitting the ball twice and would have called 2 anyway

Well done to Mark Singleton on winning Monday's 9Ball Competition taking home 50 big ones.He played very well beating some of Sheffields top players along the way and finishing off with a 4-1 win over Glyn Martins in the final.Mark looks to be getting back to his best and on this kind of form its hard not to class him as Sheffield's finest!

Also bad luck to Simon Dunn and Ben Clayton both first round casualties.

No we couldn't find a decent pen, I'd like him to next time I see him though. He is very good, the only player i've ever seen beat Terry when Terry was at his best on the day. And he's my age roughly.
I'd better make it clear that my 100% record against Mark is stretching the truth somewhat (Just in case he reads this). 1 frame playing old-rules in a warm-up, I snookered him 4 times (There was no way anyone was getting out of these snookers), and that was it. Still he’ll have to play me again sometime to turn it around, I’m up for it. I’m not playing for money though – I may as well post it down the grid.

If anyone would like to run one to see who is actually Sheffields best i think it would create alot of interest as now we can advertise it on this site and maybe get even more entries.

Graham is doing one on sunday at the Springfield. But yeah, I think you should do a high-level players only knockout. If you could get 16 of just the top players and have a fight to the death. I think a trophy would be a good idea too, how about “The Steel Cup”, world rules, only open to players who are top 10 county, pros & ex-pros, have won a tournament, league singles or played in a team which has won a league. It could be an annual thing if it got off the ground.

i was thinking more open to anyone in sheffield.you don't have to have won anything or be well known.Its always nice to try your game against someone new.If this goes ahead it would be good for pool in Sheff .There could be players that need something like this to get into the pool circuit don't really know how to get playing for a team,either because they don't know many people or just don't go out as much.

run the ko over a few wks. Make it best of 9 early rds. Have each rd 3 wks apart and set an on or before deadline date for each rd. Then have semis and final one sunday follow by buffet, kareoke and presentation.

As for ko at Springfield,if you can Graham i would run that ko over Sunday and Monday and if you get many entries try to play first 2 rounds Sunday and then it should be easier to finish off on Monday. Maybe best of 9s for Sunday?

Right as for Sheffield Steel Cup,like i keep saying keep it in Sheff with Sheff players.I play alot of kos in places like Derby,Barnsley,Yarmouth,ect..
So it would be nice for a ko at home,Punchbowl being a good venue(may be good for student community as not far to travel) and there are a few tables.It would be easy to finish in the day.

In fairness i never really rated Eddie as a really good player.1 bad shot and that was it, head down and all the world was against him.
This is why we need a ko to discover new players and also for the regulars to compeat against each other.

Shame your not comeing Ant i know i asked you to come would have drove you there only way you get better if you come to games like Sundays match. People wont ask you again you get upset when you dont get a game Wednesdays but you have to put the effort in im not great but got something like a 40-3 record v you only way you get better is if you come to games like this Sunday no good staying in to wash your hair or paint your nails last bits only jokeing in case you take it to heart.

What can I say, I've said many times i don't fancy playing county because of the travelling. I just want to play league pool now. Will enter more tournaments and maybe come to home county games if you are short there but even that's in Barnsley. I'm never going to be one of the away-game hard-core. I get what you are saying Y33 that i won't ever go past a certain level, and if that's the case then so be it! But I'm never going to be travelling around much.

It's a bit difficult to be motivated when you're giving 8 frames away on both A and B games. There's not much chance of a win against sides like Durham and Northumberland with that initial deficit.

I'm thinking of giving it a miss next year. Travelling a 350 mile round trip stretched over a twelve hour day to play only four frames is hard enough without there being a negligible chance of a team win.

T'other way round, I don't remember snookering him at all, I just outpotted him. I have a very good record against Graham though - I'm his bogey-player. You are mine Y33, can't put my finger on exactly what it is. I think it's because you're extremely competitive even in knockabouts. And I'm lazy, I do far better in competitive games than knocks.

Like actionman said before you cant really count knockabouts just good for getting your eye maybe gives you a edge over someone when you play a competitive game if they not beaten you much competitive games you have nerves added to the games its odd when you play abig game how them touch shots can let you down or easy balls are missed

Come back and regain your status as county stalwart, Ben and Micky Barron step up next season to my knowledge, and with yourself thats 3 player looking for England trials on top of Waller, Aggie and Pupski. A stronger A side means stronger players drop into the B.

A full squad next season will push for GY finals, almost certainly, thats 6 names that will be in the mix at the end of the year aswell as several 50%ers like Tank, myself , Deadly, Emson, Hoss .

Also next season will start with a stable home at Miscues so the Woollybacks may do a full season as opposed to bit parts.

The season is shaped in the 1st couple of matches, all the lads at the top end of the rankings have been turning up, it's been the ones at the back end that haven't and left us short, that costs the A side badly, a bolstered B would make us the Daddies

In fairness , It's not just South Yorkshire. Most visitors give frames away and even some home teams turn up short.
I think seeing as the change in the county set-up of the regions will never happen, maybe Region 1 could lobby for 5 sets of 9

Then All Players Would Be Able To Challenge 1 Player Per Week Up To 3 Places Above Them.if You Beat The Player You Challenge Then You Swap Places With Them. If There Is Enough Interest Then We Can Sort Out The Finner Details Between Us All. Maybe Take A Deposit From All Players To Ensure Completing Fixtures And Then The Challenger Pays £3 To Challenge With The Player Who Finnishes Top Collecting The Pot. Run Over 12 Weeks

The entry fee is 7.50 and each round is played at weekends sat and sun.
