soulvapour 28-07-2007, 15:15 Are There Any Decent Games Out That You Can Play With A Joypad, As All Games Ive Tried Tend To Be Mouse And Keyboard. I Know The Games For Windows Halo 2 And Shadow Run Will Play With Pad But There Crap Games Anyway, Lol. Any Suggestions.......and Please Dont Tell Me To Buy A Console Either!!! Lol.
steveb1978 28-07-2007, 15:47 All first person shooters, strategy and rpg games play best with a keyboard and mouse, you can play firstperson shooters with a joypad but id recommend persiveering tith the keyboard and mouse as aiming and moving becomes alot easier and more acurate with practice. pc games such as the grand theft auto series and racing games suit the joypad better.
really, mouse and keyboard is the only way to game on a PC, sure there are joypad/joystick games, but your limited to what you can do... i really wouldnt recomend using a joypad, especially for multiplayer..
Racing games, Space games, etc work ok with a joypad, but still..
Fighting games work best with a joypad. Trust me I've tried playing stuff like Street Fighter 2 on a keyboard and it's annoyingly fiddly IMO.

THEWife bought me Resident Evil 4, on the basis I like to play realistic FPS games like Ghost Recon, Medal of Honor etc. Nevermind the fact it's an unrealistic TPS with zombies...
But, that's beside the point, the point is the game is unplayable without a joypad! It's the laziest console to PC port ever, and you really do need to go out and buy a joypad to get anything out of it.
soulvapour 01-08-2007, 18:07 thanks guys for your responses
jonhanson 02-08-2007, 08:47 I dunno, I still prefer using a joypad. I guess i'm just use too playing consoles although using the xbox 360 pad on the pc works a charm.

Have to agree there, I had to use a joypad to play that game. It was horrible without one. Also the graphics I thought would have been better than nintendo and ps2... I was wrong. The PC version is the worst out of the 3.

pennangton 03-08-2007, 10:49 3D mark isnt all about the graphics card. It tests all sorts such as memory, cpu etc and gives you a score at the end, which you can compare with other users and see their specifications. Also Sli mode is good - however, some games dont support it so it would only be using 1 card, which would be a waste. Haven't you thought about selling your graphics card and looking for a nvidia 8 series such as GTX or Ultra versions?

im just lookin on the ebuyer and overclockers websites, at the 8800 gts superclocked at just under £200 which i may decide to buy as its direct x10 as im lead to beleive its the future of gaming, but the gtx and ultra are way out of my budget....:(

the ATI HD 2600 @ £94 is a good buy, 800mhz/2200mhz, thats DX10 too, im trying to save up £250 to upgrade my board to a cross fire, and get 2 of them ;)
pennangton 04-08-2007, 08:15 Imo the 8800 GTS cards are overated and not worth the money at all. Yes DX10 is the future of gaming, however this will be the low end of the DX10 graphics. Its the same with all graphics cards if you buy one now, 3months later or less it will be old and dated. If you have an ok graphics card at the moment stick with it until more games come out which are dx10 compatible.
Also make sure you have nothing which can bottleneck (slow down) your graphics card. Such as a slow cpu, memory, motherboard which isn't of good specification.

thanks you seem to know what your on about, i will wait a little longer then and thanks for your advice.
my set up is as follows:-
cpu.......pentium d 3.4 dual core.
2 gb ddr2 ram.
500w psu.
250 sata11 hd.
geforce 7900 graphics card.
conroexfire motherboard by asrock, not the best mother boards i know, but its extremely fast even though im running vista ultimate.
pennangton 04-08-2007, 10:29 To be honest thats not a bad computer at the moment for general gaming. It will run the latest games, but not on full whack on the graphics. I have a similar setup and a 7800GTX Xt and looked into buyin the 8800GTX, yes great card and worth it, but when newer dx10 cards come out it will soon bump the prices down. Also alot of GFX cards now are requiring higher and higher power supplies so 500w may not even be minimum required for most cards.
