View Full Version : How Difficult Is It To Sew In A Zip? Wheezy 28-07-2007, 12:34 I have my Mum knitting a jacket for my son. It has a full length zip. Neither of us have sewn a zip in before and I wondered how tricky it is. turra21 28-07-2007, 21:04 I've never put one in Wheezy but this (http://www.claudiasblog.net/2006/03/everything_i_know_about_puttin.html) is an excellent tutorial. I think Lisa put one into something she was making last year. Wheezy 29-07-2007, 23:00 Thank you for that turra21 and also w4b for the pm - will cross the bridge when I get to it. medusa 01-08-2007, 12:45 I've never found any problems with inserting a zip, and the only piece of advice I can offer you is to block your knitting really well to exactly the right length and fit your zip in with tension on neither the zip nor the knitting. It will look naff if there's a disparity in the length of either, and if you don't block your knitting you'll end up with stretchy baggy bits alongside the zip after a few wears. Looks like I'm on the look out for a "sew in zip" service ! :D |
