Only found your reply today!! These are my Rose family!My Great Great Great Grandfather was William Rose the spring knife cutler from Wadsley.Other names in my family were Ward, Wilson and Ibbotson. I've never visited Sheffield but I'd love to oneday! My Grandfather was born in Sheffield in 1916, all his family were from Sheffield but his parent's moved to Scotland when he was young.

I remember a John Davage who I beleive lived at Stannington. I worked with him on the retail vans at Fletchers Bakery in the late 60's and early 70's.

Davage 2 from the same source there was a Wilson, Hawksworth and Moss Shear steel Manufacturers and forgers, Beeley Wood works. I have this information from a book written by Major Conrad Kaye entitled 'Wadesleia to Wadsley', it was publishe din 1988 and in the back it says 'apprentice's indentures dated 1830, whoch shows George Rose, pocket knifw cutler, taking James Crookes as his apprentice. Miss Elsie Rose a descendant of above was cleaner at Wisewood Comp School. Now retired she lives inRural Lane and has some interesting relics of old Wadsley.' Hope this is useful!

The 1901 census records a DAVAGE family in Oakland Road, which came under Wadsley. There was Robert Davage, a "steel tilter" aged 33, his wife Emily, 36, and three children Sarah, Osmond and Amy, all at No 19 Oakland Road.
