View Full Version : Help, My adsl keeps dropping
chris2005 26-07-2007, 21:35 Hi, I'm a newbie, I am on Bulldog (Pipex) and I have major problem my connection has started dropping all the time, can be a short a time as 17 seconds I'm connected for, I was woundering if anyone who is on the Broomhall exchange ie broomhall, crosspool. posibly parts of hilsborough close to crosspool, I'm at the point of checking my phone socket to see if BT ****ed it up.
Chris
Since the floods I've been having connection dropouts. Im close to the Attercliffe exchange and have been told by Orange that there is a fault which will be fixed soon hopefully.
Hmm, my Dad's on Sky BB up in Stannington (off Wadsley Bridge exchange) and his Internet has been crap lately, wonder if that's flood related?
silverfox74 27-07-2007, 14:33 Hi i was on bulldog i had nothing but problems with it dropping out all the time whilst i was using the usb modem that it came with so i bought an adsl router but it was still the same only difference is that with the router the connection would log itself back in. google bulldog forums and you will see that everyone gets the same problem hope this helps
jonhanson 27-07-2007, 15:10 Were in S6 on Bulldog dont really have any issues as long as you change routers its fine. I use it for xbox live so would notice dropouts, and the only one we have had recentley was last night where it went off for 20 mins but I think that was due to the exchange.
One thing that might be a problem is if there is noise on your line for your speed??
If you go on the bulldog forums people on there will tell you if your stats are any good or not.
chris2005 28-07-2007, 15:03 I'm in S10, I am seriously thinking of getting off bulldog but if the problem is the line to the BT exchange or the BT exchange itself then there is no point I have been told by BT that without an ISP that has a local loop like bulldog I will only get 512kbps which is useless really, so I need to be carefull which isp I go to, I am thinking about BE adsl 2 service.
Thanks all
Chris
chris2005 28-07-2007, 18:14 ok this is werid now. I come on and start using my pc this after noon and for about 12 an hour its still dropping the line all the time now its fine, what is going on with my damm line its stupid.
*vanessa* 28-07-2007, 18:18 We were with Pipex for 4 years until March, when I finally got fed up with the drop-outs. Our connection used to be fine through out the day and then as soon as 5.30 pm came, it would drop every 3 to 60 seconds. We had this for several months, their customer services, said that they thought our equipment was at fault:loopy:. So we moved to BE, its good, but I think its expensive for what you get, and I don't like being tied into a 12 month contract, but hey-ho.

plusnet has a 1 month contract rather than 12 - and has 3 months satisfaction guarentee - if you're unhaopy you leave for free with your money back.
they've also just came top of the uswitch customer satisfaction surveys.

chris2005 29-07-2007, 00:06 Cos I'm writing to everyone I can I've to MP in charge of the crossparty internet group I'm writing a letter to local MP and virgin too cos I wanna get onto cable as soon as I can, can anyone tell I think that ADSL will never work well enough?
woohoo thanks do pulse net use LLU?
no new sign-ups are pushed on to LLU at the moment, but with maxdsl up-to 8mbps it doesn't make that much difference in terms of speed. you'll get the speed that the copper between your house and the exchange is capable of - up-to 8mbps.
if you want to sign-up to plusnet, PM me and I'll monitor the process for you to make sure it goes smoothly.
