View Full Version : Favourite song in film moments.
I was just wondering if people had favourite moments in films that were made so powerful by a certain song. A song that really captures a cinematic moment, and wouldn't be the same without.
Off the top of my head mine have to be...
Say Anything.... The scene where John Cusack is playing Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" outside his ex-girlfriends window in an attempt to win her back.
Magnolia... The montage scene with Aimee Mann's wise up. (P.T.A.'s films always have good music moments)
Cruel Intentions... Awful film, but love the piece with Color Blind by Counting Crows.

Bikertec 18-12-2004, 00:19 Classic Film Rockey Horror Picture Show my favourite film all the songs are great.
I love the music from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Excellent bass line- not a bad film either ;)
StarSparkle 18-12-2004, 09:34 The soundtrack of "Grosse Pointe Blank" is fabulous, and blends beautifully into the film, which is how it should be, imo.
And the late, great Joe Strummer composed the original soundtrack.
Unbeatable.

Notting Hill is a grim film in many respects, but the 'change of seasons' part where they use 'Ain't no sunshine' by Bill Withers while they show the passage of a year in a continuous scene panning through the market is amazing.
Joe
Huey Lewis - The power of love, Marty McFly holding onto the back of the truck on his skateboard!
(a) Berlin - Take my breath away, Tom Cruise (Maverick) on his motorbike.
(b) Dangerzone - Top Gun end scene, when they fly off into the sunset sky!
Pulp Fiction - the music just after the very first scene when pumpkin & honeybunny decide to rob the restaurant. I think it's called misirlou. It kicks the film off to a great start!

I think that Tarrantino and Guy Ritchie compose excellent soundtracks for their respective films. Soundtracks do make a film
sparklesista 19-12-2004, 10:58 I love the soundtrack to Titanic!
All the songs fit in perfectly and they always alter my mood when I listen to them :)

Couldn't agree with those 2 songs more! ;)
sparklesista 19-12-2004, 11:01 I like "I've had the time of my life" in Dirty Dancing!
I just love the end dance scene it that film! :D
Agent Gypo 19-12-2004, 11:47 When The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash was an inspired choice for the opening credits of Dawn Of The Dead.
StarSparkle 19-12-2004, 12:15 I love the "Tex-Mex" soundtrack of "From Dusk till Dawn" - the music played in that awful bar on the Mexican border is just wonderful.
Following on from that, (if a little off-topic) the "Tex-Mex" / Mariachi mix of the group Calexico is gorgeous music - so life-affirming!

But I LOVE two songs from Snatch. Golden Brown by the Stanglers (where Gorgeous George gets knocked out by the pikeys) and Angel by Massive Attack (where One Punch Mickey's mothers caravan get's burned down).
