Hi guys,

I will be coming to Sheffield for about a week this Summer to do some work at the Sheffield Archives (Shoreham Street). I'm going to need a cheap B&B or hotel for my time there - any ideas about where I could stay?? I'm not at all familiar with Sheffield, and I'm on a pitiful budget, so somewhere within walking distance of the Archives would be best. Is Shoreham Street central?

Any relevant advice will be gratefully accepted!

Shoreham Street is on the edge of the centre close to Sheffield United football ground. It is near Norfolk Park (sounds nice but a bit iffy) and Heeley/Meersbrook. I don't know of any B & Bs but there must be some around. How long are you up for? Is renting a room in a shared house an option?

I will be in Sheffield for about 5 nights, so a B&B would probably be the best option - especially for my budget. I don't mind walking to the Archive each morning but I have no idea whereabouts to start looking!

Cheers, I had a look at that site, but nothing on it seems to be central. I'm struggling with Google Maps here, and everything in my price range seems to be really far away.nAre there any youth hostels in Sheffield? I can't seem to find any online; perhaps some of you would know of something? The cheapest hotels are still too expensive and I am really struggling to find a central-ish B&B.

It might be worth contacting the Accommdoation Offices at Sheffield Hallam University http://www.shu.ac.uk or Sheffield Uni http://www.sheffield.ac.uk as they both sometimes rent out Halls of Residence Rooms during the summer.

The Rutland Arms pub in Brown St is actually very near - they used to do cheap B&B - worth phoning them up to see if they still do it as they recently had a change of ownership..
