How upset am I?
This happened yesterday (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i217/turra21/socks003.jpg).
I've already darned the top of the heel flap and don't have enough left to darn something this big. Please say a prayer for my widdershins. My first fatality. :(
Sorry about the quality of the photo but kneel down with your feet on a stool turn round and try to get a good angle with your camera! (that bit was funny at least)
I shall say a few words for you turra21  Tell me, how old was he, did he have a good life? :(
Oh how spooky, I've just looked back at my records and I finished them a year ago yesterday. so their epitaph needs to read
Here lies Widdershins
24-7-06 to 24-7-07
RIP
Oh no! That was the Celestial Merino yarn too, wasn't it? It doesn't seem a year ago since you knit those.
RIP Widdershins :( .

You could reknit the heel in a different colour (both heels, obviously). If the toes look dodgy you could do them at the same time and then it would look planned. I know that they wouldn't be the same but it would mean that you still have them.

What??!! All that work, cost, blood, sweat and tears for them just to last a year?! :o:o:o

I've never done that before, do you have a tutorial or something? Maybe if I send them to you you could do them for me :o:

I know how to replace a cuff down heel flap with gusset, I know how to replace a short row heel with no gusset but because I've never knitted the heel that's used in Widdershins I'd have to have a good look at it before deciding where to put the scissors. Don't throw them away Turra, they may become the $6m socks ("we can rebuild them")
Aaaawwwww....you could always look on the positive side and see it as an excuse to knit more?
