View Full Version : Linda McCartneys burgers - anyone tried them?

Anyone tried them? For years they have been the ultimate veggie burger, impressing veggies and cavemen alike. And now they've gone and changed them. Yes, they are now "new and tastier"?

Says who? They've gone from being the ultimate meat-substitute burger to some slimy dodgy stodge burger.

How could they do this now that Linda is dead? It's like they are saying "I think Linda wanted her burgers to taste like this!"

I wonder what Sir Paul thinks? Does he know? Has he agreed to this outrage purely to make another 10 grand a year?

Oh **** it, I'm off to McDonalds.

I'm not a veggie but as a result of a friend I got into eating veggie sausages on a regular basis...quite nice when I think back...and it was the only time I ever ate veg.

I was a vegetarian for a few years and I ate vegetables, beans, fruit etc.

I took the view that if I wanted to eat burgers I would eat meat.

Things have changed. A burger does not neccasarily contain meat. It can contain fish, chicken, quorn or veg!

Veggi bacon is a kind of bacon.

I know many people who eat meat that PREFER linda mccartney sausages and burgers (b4 they changed em) to meat ones as they are not full of grissle and fat but still taste meaty.

Her sausages are really good.

I prefer the Tesco's own brand vegi burgers.

I was only stating the way I looked at it. I wasn't saying that "burgers must contain meat"

I just took the view that a "veggie burger" was invented with the thought that vegetarians were deprived because they couldn't eat burgers.

I just refused to class myself as being "deprived" because of a dietary choice that I had freely made.

cauliflower and cheese burgers may well be nice but they are hardly an alternative to a burger, they are totally different. And I doubt many of my meat-munching friends would like them too much.

The point I am trying to make is that LM burgers offered you a 'REAL' alternative to eating meat without having to be totally authentic veggie.

And now they are gone :(

her burgers are flamegrilled and they have changed. look out for the 'new tastier' recipe on the front.

oh, and they are still the same price but the burgers are smaller.

It's about time some real issues got talked about on here. :-)

I've always thought her (their) burgers and sausages were the dirty end of the veggie burger world. Think they waste artificial these days and really fatty.

My faves are the Cauldron Cumberland ones - much more like, and the 'Veggies' ones are also good but you have to go to a veggie shop like the one on Chesterfield Road to get um.

I have to admit I dont find most veggie food that appetising. At Glasto a few years ago if you bought a veggie sausage, it would be some kind of sweetcorn and green mush. Not disgusting but not what I would call a sausage. Nowadays they tend to be more on the meat alternative end of the market!

Linda McCartney never put meat in her food but it was discovered that one of the factories that made some of her food had not been cleaning the machinery properly before making veggie food after making meat products.

Not tried Linda McCartneys burgers but tried Quorn sausages on friday and they were disgusting...and i like veggie food! Funny thing was i had two friends stay round thursday night and we had a fry up for brekkie and i used these sausages but didnt tell them they were veggie only me and the boyf knew. and when they finished i asked what they thought to the sausages because i thought they were horrible and both said 'yeah they were nice/alright' so i told them what they were and got the reply 'i thought they were disgusting/knew something was wrong with them' lol!

I eat a load of veggie stuff, usually only eat meat (chicken, bacon and sausage) when I'm out.

The Dalepak stuff is nice - get it from Iceland, they rebadge it and add 50p in Tesco :P

The LM sausage rolls are nice as well...
