Hi, Has anybody on this forum ever used Self storage facilities in Sheffield.

If so, what were your thoughts, service obtained?

Looking to possibly open a storage centre in Sheffield and trying to gain some valuable feedback.

Do you think there is a need for this tyoe of facility in Sheffield, if so what ideas/expectations would you have.

Many thanks

There's one at West Bar (called A1 Self Storage, I think)

They interviewed me for a job once - and never even bothered writing to me to tell me that I had been unsuccessful! They are probably very good at storing things, though :)

Hi
I used Apollo Storage at West Bar for 6 months when I moved house last year. They were excellent. They showed me a few different size rooms so I could judge what size I needed and I could see that the storage areas were clean, dry and freshly painted etc. The only extra charge was for insurance, which I think is compulsory. They handled the finance side of things very well and were prompt in returning my deposit when I ended the contract. Access was fine, just turn up and sign in if you need to get to your stuff. They are not open 24 hours or Sundays but I don't think this is an issue for the majority of people.
I would say the important things are ....

1) Clean, dry, tidy & secure rooms
2) Good parking for loading/unloading
3) Professional image - I think a few portakabins in a yard would put most people off
4) Friendly staff

Hope this helps

we've used amardillo storage at west bar used to be called Apollo Self Storage, decent clean storage unit, good security etc.

works out at about £75 per month, so just fetching all our stuff out to save money.

see http://www.armadillostorage.co.uk/ for details

I am using Apollo at present and would definitely agree... Very friendly... Just sign in when you need anything from your store and sign out when you leave...

Its the first time i have ever had to use storage an i have to admit i am very impressed :)

As the previous contributors Apollo do provide the only genuine self storage facilities in Sheffield and appear to provide a good efficient service. In Eckington there is a company called Admiral on Pipworth Lane who does self storage in metal shipping containers.
What you have to bear in mind is that every medium to large removal company in this region also does self storage
To me it would seem to be an over subscribed service

I looked into storage from Apollo, but instead opted to rent a garage from Sheffield Council.

It's about a quarter of the price at £6 per week!
