Hi people,
This has been annoying me for ages and I just wondered if anyone else is the same. Why do some adverts have actors doing the acting then dub there voices badly even though they speak english already?

The worse ones for this are skin and hair products

It's so they can use the same advert in multiple regions - Australia, teh US, the UK, Canada, etc.

The really annoying ones is where there are folks who clearly AREN'T speaking English and they get over-dubbed by the folks who are the direct descendants of the people who did the voice-overs for TV series like 'The Flashing Blade' and the one about the Mirage pilots. :)

The worst one I saw was some cosmetic or haircare ad that featured a very very well known actress - who's name I now can't remember! But they dubbed her voice when it should have been obvious we knew what she sounded like, and the dubbed voice was nothing like hers. It just came across as stupid.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh I hate it.

The worst one is teh one for the glade toilet freshner with the little oriental kid on. The dubbing is sooooooooooooooooo bad.

We're quite lucky over here though, think about those poor things on the continent that get all our cast offs dubbed from English into their language. I bet they get a damn sight more than us.... :(

I think the worst ones are the Clearasil ones, especially that recent one with the teenage boys..its awful
Are people that skanky they can't afford to make another advert
