Did anyone go last night, or are you going tonight. I was wondering how it compared to the Hallam FM Arena as in seating, view, access, parking, prices and what was the sound quality like?

Went tonight to see Bryan Adams all I can say is the Arena is much better.
The sound is rubbish it just echoes from the back. The prices for food and drink are the same as Arena. Toilet facilities are rubbish if you are female dont expect to get there without a 30 minute wait:rant:

The only better thing is cheaper parking managed to park for £3 but that wasnt in Keepmoat Parking area.

Oh and lastly dont go when it is ******* it down with rain:hihi:

I feel this might turn into one of those 'ours is better than yours' thread. It's all a question of taste and bias. When I saw Meatloaf I was next to a couple who did nothing but berate everything about Hallam FM Arena. When I got wind they were from Manchester, I told them subtly that I thought the GMEX was total [masked swearing removed]. They didn't take too kindly to this....I was quickly informed that it was no longer called the GMEX and it's had extensive improvements...yeah right.

Re Keepmoat, I took my lad to see Mcfly on Thursday, and the wife last night to see Bryan Adams. I didn't have a problem with the sound at all. The only thing that let me down was the weather. It's a lovely stadium, well organised, plenty of room between the rows of seats if you like a dance.
You can't really compare it with Hallam Arena because it's an entirely different kind of venue.
There's no threat to Hallam either regarding top South Yorks concert venue. As a concert junkie, I know there's a great many top acts who won't perform in outdoor stadiums, unless it's a special occasion. Besides Hallam Arena is a dedicated venue for concerts. The infrastructure, dressing rooms, acoustics is all geared for maximum effect. The Keepmoat is a sports stadium and will only be made available in the summer season for concerts.

I've never been to the M.E.N Arena, so I couldn't use that as a weapon of sorts, but I'm sure it's a nice arena. Saying that the last time I went to GMEX must have been the late 1980s to see Paul McCartney.
At one time, before we had kids, wife and I used to travel all around Europe to see acts...Queen, U2, Stones etc. Nowadays it's usually the Hallam FM Arena, City Hall, Donny Dome, and recently the Keepmoat. Next up for me are Donny Osmond (though you must understand this is the wife's choice  and Kaiser Chiefs at Hallam, Richard Hawley at the City Hall, and Mika at Donny Dome (that's one for my 10 year old though).

i like going to different venues and sometimes if i can afford it go and see the same bands in a few venues , the manchester apollo is a much better venue esp for rock concerts as they allow standing but as far as arena gigs go nothing can top the manchester one not just because more bands play there but the fact you dont have to stand in line forever to get drinks etc

Think someone has got their rose tinted glasses on regarding toilets at arena, i have been to several concerts there and it is always at least a 20 min wait for the toilets, it is as bad queueing for food too.
I have spoken to quite a few people who wont go to concerts at arena cos hallam fm sponsor it and they hate hallam fm. I also didnt see the point in this name change as a lot of people still refer to it as sheffield arena

The keepmoat and the Sheffield Arena are two different venues 1s outside and ones inside, meaning you get very different sounds and echoes, Sheffield arena even now is still one of the best.:)

The more accurate comparison for the Sheepgoat is Don Valley stadium rather than the Arena.
