We are a small Walkley based charity on South RD, near the library, we sell good quality second hand clothing, shoes, books, DVD's. CD's, and all maner of other lovely bits n bats! Also we are a well stocked, fully functioning pet shop with a great and well established reputation, All of our proceeds from both pet supplies and second hand goods go straight to the care and upkeep of our charges. Consequently we need foster carers, especially for cats and kittens and also volunteers to help work in our shop. At the moment we have one or two DIY projects needing attention, but no-one to help us with them, if your 'handy' could you donate your time and skills?

I don't think people realise that just an hour or so is valuable as a volunteer.
On Wednesday I cleaned 10 rabbit and guinea pigs hutches in just over an hour! With the bad weather these need doing every day to keep them nice and dry, sometimes they need a nice brush and bath occassionally, something else that can be done in an hour.
So my point is your contribution is worthwhile even if you don't have a lot of time to spare.
Next week I'm going to do a bit of fence painting - weather permitting!
It would be such a shame if small animal charitys such has SYAR had to close as they provide such a valuable service, especially with the RSPCA centre being closed at present.

You are so right Lily, most people have a little time to spare but dont realise how much you can do that makes a difference in that time, I to spend some of my spare time up at S Y A R, though I havent been there long, and havent met you, I have recently spent time cleaning out hutches and its a great feeling to know that you have helped out someone small, furry and dependant. I will continue to back this organisation to the hilt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also we get ALL OF OUR PET GOODS from here, I like the prices and quality, the service is great and I know ALL the profits go straight to the animals.
