Don't laugh :hihi:
But I am now running a dog display team
It'll started out at the ill fated FrizbeeDogz events which I ran and had little interest, we found people wanted to watch and cheer the dogs on rather than get involved so since the first event at Potton (Bedfordshire) in May we have now added more to our routine and are building up a proper display team with events already being talked about for next year ;)
Trouble is four dogs isn't really enough we need two or three more dogs in the team, but for training purposes they must live within easy travelling distances of Chesterfield so we can practice the routines.
What is involved:
So far we don't get travelling expenses but by next year there is a very good chance that we'll get some, but for now travelling around the country is off your own back, however the camping at the venues (usually country houses) is free.
It doesn't matter if you and your dog haven't done tricks before as long as you are both willing to learn, we try to make a distinct difference between this and HTM and to do so try to encourage only tricks that use props, i.e. balls, loops, frizbees, skateboards etc.
Our last event at Dalemain House in the Lake District was really well recieved with hundreds of people watching and cheering the dogs on during there routine.
The routine at the moment is quite simple we start off with Kes pulling Neelix around on a trailer (we know have two trailers and are planning a race for the next event). After this Neelix dribbles his football and scores goals (another trick which will be improved in time as we get other dogs playing and sending one off the pitch with a red card). Following Neelix's football Chakotay jumps through Hula Hoops, FOUR at shoulder height (we are hoping to increase this to six before the next event and by the beginning of next year we should have a ring of fire to jump through), this is followed by our usual Frisbee display
Any takers, anyone want to join and train with Paul's Performing Pooches
