I know I could have googled but I thought I'd post to see how quickly i could get a response :hihi: You've just helped with the latest office conundrum  Mod_Man 19-07-2007, 13:03 Seems like you have the answer but I thought I would add W.O.P.R = War Operation Plan Response. commuter 19-07-2007, 13:18 nice one mod man I'll save that for later Dude111 11-11-2007, 18:00 An Xcellent movie! I have it on VHS and watch it quite often :) alchresearch 12-11-2007, 08:59 More useless trivia - David Lightman's home computer was an IMSAI: http://www.imsai.net/ There's also some Wargames trivia on there! JoeP 12-11-2007, 09:57 Yes, the official name for it was WOPR, but the AI would answer to the name 'Joshua'. The first 5 minutes of that film with the blokes down in the silos preparing to fire the missiles was very effective. It's still one of my favourite movies. The general in that movie eventually showed up as the retired astronaut / local entrepreneur Maurice Minnifield in the excellent 'Northern Exposure'. mrmist 12-11-2007, 10:24 "No, Let's play, Global Thermonuclear War." altus 12-11-2007, 18:42 "No, Let's play, Global Thermonuclear War." Go on then. (http://www.introversion.co.uk/defcon/) Dude111 13-11-2007, 04:42 More useless trivia - David Lightman's home computer was an IMSAI: http://www.imsai.net/Quite interesting!! Ghozer 13-11-2007, 05:00 W.O.P.R - War Operation Plan Response It was Stephen Falken and John McKittrick who originally designed and built it, and as many people have said, it answered to the name Joshua, which was Falken's son who had died.. i have the movie if you wish to come and watch it :) and I also have that Defcon Game - its VERY addictive! |
