Did anyone else watch this fabulous interview last night?
I love the way this guy has the nerve to follow his beliefs!
(would have said conc**nce but I forgot how to spell it)
Well done BBC 2 for airing such a controvercial slice of television.
(my spelling is lousy this morning)
Top viewing and a shame I do not have a copy of it....
Can anyone help with that? or have any views on the programme?

He also gave details on how he parted company with the BBC, his own opinions on the war for oil.
The fiasco surrounding Dr David Kelly was spoken about and along with other slamming criticisms, he pointed out how misleading our government and media really is!
Also said in hindsight, if he had have known how the staff were going to react when he was forced to leave, what the same employees would have done if he had not resigned and was sacked!
He is a loss to the corporation in my eyes.
I might be dreadging up old ground, but I would like to see more of this man, he did finish by saying that, no he will not be gardening from now on.
Meaning that he is still a player.

On the subjects of the bbc "rationalisation".
Mark Thompson obviously believes that if he didn't do this then the government would potentially scrap the license fee and the bbc would be worse off.
I say, that if Tony Blair wants to wreck the BBC, let him. He would go down in history with one of the worst reputations of any prime minister if he affected such a thing (the reputation that in my opinion he deserves)
The BBC is one of the best things about this country and successive governments seem to seriously have the impression that it is a communist front. How they have formed this opinion is an absolute mystery to me.
Every successive government thinks that the BBC is working against them. This is a sure sign that the BBC is doing its job. I'd love to hear the government critisise commercial/Sky but it knows that that would bring Murdoch's right wing press out against them and would risk its party coffers.
Long live the (unbiased) BBC ....

I've read a really good book by Nick Cohen - "Pretty Straight Guys" which is about the way the country has been going since Tony Blair has become Labour Party Leader.
There's a fascinating bit in it about how Rupert Murdoch was persuaded to make his newpapers be really positive about the Millennium Dome, after they had initially been very scathing about it.
Its just one very small example but it is really indicative of how important that one man (and an Australian/American to boot) is to the politics of this country.
The difference with this government is it really does seem to be prepared to take the BBC on to a greater extent than before.

That is the way that we are going like the US of A.
I suggest you check out the film "The corporation".
I has been screening at the showroom recently, sounds like you would like it Yoda!
