We currently have her insured with Sainsburys (underwritten by AXA) and in the 7 years we've been with them she has never had a claim. Today I get her renewal quote from them and it has DOUBLED!!!!!!. Apparently AXA have changed the rules and anything thats young, old, pedigree, big or any combination of has seen a massive increase in the premuim this year.
I'm going to shop around, but just wondered if anyone knew of anywhere else that might accept a healthy old dog, as I know most wont start a policy after their 8th birthday. TIA

Thanks, they dont take dogs over 8 years of age though.
Have managed to get sorted now thanks - Have gone with Argos Pet Insurance, they offer exactly the same cover as we have now and its actually £2 cheaper a month. Daft thing is they have the same underwriters as the one who has doubled our premiums:confused::loopy:
Have you had the same vet for the lifetime of your old policy because if you haven't and try to make a claim you will I fear end up with a shed load of problems

Hi - yes we have. I rescued her half dead from a pet shop at only 2 weeks old!!!!. The vet helped me get the pet shop shut down and I have been with the same vet ever since.

Animal friends cover dogs over 8 and the prices are reasonable!

I was with them for 3 years never claimed and then received a letter stating they were unwilling to insure my dog anymore...that was it, no reason was given. I had to write to the underwriters to find out why
