I would (and I can knit socks too) but as school finishes this week and I am in possession of a seven year old it's unlikely that I'll be let out unaccompanied until September.

Have a look in the recommended links thread. You'll find details of Bami's Saturday knitting group which meets in Stocksbridge between 10 am and lunchtime on Saturdays.

EDIT: Here's the link to her web site (http://asa4u.net/knitnchat/index.html) which has more details.

Thanks Hecate for mentioning our group! :)

Hi peakwool, you're very welcome to come!

I don't know about any other group at daytime apart from one in Chesterfield. I don't know where you live but you will read about on the Yahoo group of Ssheffieldknitterati.

A lady called Ruth runs one on Monday mornings at Nether Edge. She is happy to change the day and time or even the venue to suit others! PM me if you want any contact details.

Thanks for intending to come. Hope you can make it next time (11/8. )

It might be useful to know that there's a Stagecouch tramlink (bus) going now to Deepcar and Stocksbridge. It has a stop at Middlewood P&R tramstation and you can use the same ticket as used for the tram. This tramlink bus stops near the library as well. ;)

Thanks for the travel info, Bami, I am pretty rubbish about getting around Sheffield, it always seems to take me much longer than I expect! I may have a trip out to see how long it takes one day before the next meeting.

Back to the knitting... I will finish this cardigan.

Picked up a leaflet for Sarah's Knitting Circle held on second Saturday of the month, from 3pm at Bungalows & Bears, The Old Fire Station, Division Street, S1.

May have a visit, especially now all the pubs are smoke-free!

I like the idea of meeting in a pub :) I may try it as well, though not August...
What's Bungalows and Bears? Is it something in the pub?

Couldn't quite work out the theme, but it is pleasant enough inside, and not full of drunks or teenagers even on a Friday night!

yes and no, Bungalows and bears is the name of the pub, becky. the pub is the old fire station building on Division Street.

(it's something to do with the decoration theme, AFAIK... pictures of bungalows and pictures/ models of bears. *shrugs* don't ask me what it's in aid of. )

Shows how much I get out then :D I thought the pub was called the Old Fire Station!!!

It used to be until quite recently, don't worry, it confused me too (not hard)! Could be a nice place to knit though, squishy sofas and a bar!
