It's proven that as a nation we are getting fatter. In ten years we will be as fat as the Americans are now if we carry on eating junk food.

How much weight have you put on in the last 5 years?

I have gained 3 stone! My eating habits haven't really changed and I don't eat junk food ( maybe it's my age ):gag:

Please take the time to add to the poll.

Increased by over three stone but that's probably due to the fact that 5 years ago I was 12. :P

Did you see the program on one of the cable/sky channels recently giving evidence that obesity is 'contageous'?

There's an adenovirus (AD36 possibly) that invades the DNA of your fat cells making them multiply +++!!! Once it's activavted it can't be 'switched-off'...

They infected lab animals with it & hey presto lardy rats; fed on the same diet as supermodel rats!

Then they tested lots of lardy Americans to see if they had antibodies to AD36 & guess what :gag:? Half of them got fat because they caught a bug at some time! The other half were just lardy.

So beware of skinny people with the sniffles! :o -choo!

Yes the americans are a much fatter nation, not just because of fast food, they don't walk as much as people in the uk, the towns are not walkable ! if that makes sence, it's not a luxury to have a car here. it's a necessaty, ? and the bus services are no where near as good as in the uk.

although now the latest is that the us is to blame for makeing immigrants obese ? can you immagine, those poor immigrants sneaking over the borders to get to McDonalds before applying for welfare ?

I've lost weight - I was quite a podgy person in the mid 1990s, as various photos will testify.

then I went on the Nat West Plan Diet - that's where your bank won't let you eat...:D

Seriously, I've lost weight over the last 5 years and in the last year have seen a fair amount come off - mainly due to just watching takeaways (rather than eating them...:) ) and doing some mild excercise.

Same ting- 5 years ago I was a big lad but dropped about 3 stone in the last 18 months.

And I still eat rubbish and tan stella - the secret is running or martial arts training 6 days a week.

Dread to think what'd happen if I broke my leg tho- I'd be back up to 17 stone in no time :)

but since muscle's heavier than fat that'd be a good sign, surely? I assumed that's what Neil meant anyway.

I've gained more than 3 stone... but I'm not overweight. I was very skinny a few years ago, but my fiancee insists on me eating proper meals now instead of just eating ginger nuts.

Say Poppins,

I'm not familiar with english cookies or pastries, but english candy...yum! I used to work with a guy from London who was generous with his care packages from home.

NatalieSheff, some Americans eat english muffins...that's not a bad thing, right? ;)

We have a small shop here that sells only english things, sausages, sweets, tarts ect, all impoted of course and very expensive, but nice for a treat now and then, love the pork pies, they come frozen of course, but it's better than nothing.
