I've been on a couple of walks with the walking group to Chatsworth but had never been in the gardens - so I went on Saturday on my lonesome. Wow are the gardens nice ! I especially liked the statues and ended up taking some pics of them.

Unfortunately the weather wasnt that great and I didnt have my tripod or flash, just my 17-40 and 70-200 with Lee ND grads and Polarizer handheld. Photos are here (http://www.rfstock.co.uk/Chatsworth/). Will have to go again properly armed with gear and decent weather I think :P

Mind you, the Beef and Ale Pie followed by Orange and Whiskey Cheesecake in the restaurant there made up for the day !

Other photos from previous visits to Chatsworth are in walking section of my site @ www.RFStock.co.uk (not big size though)...

Anyone else got Chatsworth pics to share ?

Excellent photos, Grissom; the moss-covered statues especially, and the beautiful rain-soaked bright green against the grey sky. I love Chatsworth. No longer being in Sheffield, it's been far too long since I visited. Thanks for the inspiration for a weekend trip :) .

Cheers :) The Orange stuff on one of the statues was really bright, like it was rust. Well weird. I liked the moss on the back of one of the necks - looked like hairs standing up :)

I cannot comment, I'm afraid as I gave up waiting for page to load [I have a fast connection BTW], but after 30secs or more, there was just some thumbnails that didn't do anything and a what may have been a countdown graphic, still twirling away.

Though crappy weather can make for better pics than sunny weather. Personally I prefer cloudy skies to clear skies.

Hmmm, not sure why its slow today. If you go here (http://www.rfstock.co.uk/Chatsworth/slides/) you can see the images one at a time by clicking on the filename - should be quicker than waiting for the flash doobrey to load :)

Know what you mean about clouds - they look quite nice in some of the ones I took. But the morning was really dull - like there was an eclipse or something :P

I quite like the lighting in the pics, it's what I call 'Storm Lighting'. You get it when the sun manages to peek out through dark grey [rain] clouds. Most evident in OR3U0289+0R3U0429.jpgs . Catchy names! ;)
