View Full Version : Flickr Friends...
So, anyone on here got a flickr account (most of you will I'm guessing) that you want to share with us? Mine's http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulmat/, if anyone wants to be my friend on it you're welcome (i'm a bit lonely on it at the moment) :)
I generally use deviantART, Link (http://wysseri.deviantart.com) I do have a flickr account, but I haven't added anything to it for months now... I do plan on doing so sometime though, but just don't get round to it, here's my flickr account link (http://www.flickr.com/photos/38356736@N00/)
Nice one Wysseri. ;) Got some brilliant pics there. Especially the ones with the squirrels. lol.
Hi Paul
I just added you to my Flickr contacts list. I am only an occasional user of Flickr as I find the social aspects of it occasionally disturbing (e.g. when I added you to the list, you were introduced as 'male and single'). There is also no 'passing trade' unlike pBase, where most of my pix are, and the building of contact lists etc just to drum up views is pointless.
Anyhow your 'Up on the hill' is a really good capture. I bet it would look fabulous as a large print.
Cheers,
Pete
Cheers Pete. You're probably right, there's not much point adding friends as I don't use the 'social' side of flickr. Lol.
You got some nice pics on there. Especially the ones in China.
I was actually thinking of getting it as a large print. I think it would bring out the detail better, and make what seems quite a boring picture in small into quite an nice interesting one.
I too added you as a contact... However regarding adding as a friend, no views doesn't matter. But looking at other art does, and that is the whole point otherwise you'll never move anywhere and your work will always be stuck where it is.
At least that's the reason I add people, so I can critique them and understand why I like their work and what I can do to improve my own stuff.
Guess I'd better figure out how to add people to my contact list...
I've not used my flickr account as yet, created on so I could comment on someone else's pics they had put online.

I know!!! why do they make it so hard?? I must've spent a good 10 minutes trying to work it out. Exactly the reason I've had an account for almost a year and only added two contacts in the last 2 weeks! :hihi:
Mind you, I've not touched it since last October or whenever, purely because its so difficult to do anything...
Tried adding paulmat...but flicker doesn't recognise the id it seems :(
Managed to add couple of ppl at work ok though...
(I'm dafoot999 btw)

Seems like a reasonable view to take.
Tried to find you dafoot, but it doesn't recognise your name.
I couldn't find dafoot either... It kept on asking me if I meant daft instead

LOL :hihi:
Wysseri...you have the same tag on flickr? I'll try finding you...
Found Wysseri, but can't get it to add as a contact!?

Look under Wysseri's profile, then you should get the option to add as a contact.
I have decided to add everyone with a picture of the sunset over Bole Hills to my contact lists. It could take a while....

Some great pictures there, Gemma. For a phone, that's not a bad camera!
You would really benefit from a decent camera, though: you clearly have a good 'eye' for a picture. More control over the exposure and focal length would allow you to get the colourful skies and perspectives that you are aiming for.

Thanks, that means a lot. I've always liked taking pictures and I am wanting to get into it more than my current camera allows, but it's getting the money for a nice dslr. My Nikon L1 (http://www.flickr.com/cameras/nikon/coolpix_l1/) does take nice to pictures to an extent, but like you said, I could do with some more control to get them perfect.
I've only ever used Olympus cameras, so my knowledge of other brands is very limited. For a starter camera, I would go secondhand. My first DSLR was the Olympus E20, which can now be bought for £150 on eBay. 5mp is good enough for A4 prints (at least), the zoom lens (fixed so no messing about changing lenses) is superb and there is a live view screen on the back for framing awkward low/high level shots (like an L1 but unlike most dSLRs). The Oly E500 is a bit more expensive (£200) but takes interchangeable lenses and had great reviews when it came out.
Not a dSLR, but the Canon G5 allows full manual control and is pretty highly rated. Should be around £100 secondhand.
