Around 72/73 I lived at lodge moor cafe with my mum,as we were opposite the hospital gates a lot of the staff used to come in the shop for fags sweets etc,I got to know a few of the nurses both male and female we all drank in the Sportsman and I was priveliged to be invited to the parties held in the nurses quarters,we had some magical evenings,the ones I remember best are,Alan(nutcase),John,Tim(bsa bantam with apehangers!!)there was an exceptionally attractive girl called Gail(long dark hair)and sadly the rest of the names escape me,I am pretty sure that quite a few at the said parties werent staff so just wondered if anyone out there hail from lodge moor and recall these times??regards Colin.:)

Ah the mess parties!! Thanks for reminding me of these evenings. I went to lots of these sort of things in the hospitals around Sheffield in the late seventies- used to go to Lodge Moor for lunch as the hospital canteen was the best in the city. Most of the parties I went to were at the Infirmary, though- they were crap!
Think Northern General used to have the best!
