hi, i have a dvd that I can happily watch on my pc but when i try to play it on my dvd player all i get up on the menu screen is a folder icon same as the one you see in windows with the word root and a zero at the side of it, anyone have any idea what the problem is, thanks
Perhaps your DVD player doesn't play copied stuff? You can get decent DVD Players that are multi-region and play everything possible including DivX nowadays for a lot less than a ton... Usually under £50.

hi it is multi region and i have played copied dvds before, just this one thats the problem
Did you finalize it when you burned it? That could be part of teh problem.. Also what software are you using to burn? IMO Nero > everything, download the trial version from here (http://www.nero.com).
Sounds like its been burned as an ISO rather than a DVD. Folder structure is wrong, therefore your DVD player doesnt know what to do with it. Your PC wont be as picky-as long as the files are on the disc it really doesnt care how theyre structured

the root folder comes up on mine, mine plays mpg / avi / divx files, yours possibly does but its the wrong format???
where it says zero it would have a time if it was read properly

try opening the disc in my computer, if you get afile, copy it to your puter, youll need a dvd authoring package to author as a dvd OR if its under 79 minutes you can burn to cd as a videocd ...........most dvd players play vcds
