Well, Argentina were by far the best side in the tournament, but Brazil pretty much had their reserves out through most of it. I fancied an 'upset' and had a few small bets on Brazil to win tonight, all HT/FT - £10 on Draw/Brazil, £4 on Brazil/Brazil, and a £1 on Argentina/Brazil.
OK, so I only won £17 overall, but ..... it provided more interest, and a winner's a winner. Messi and Riquelme were tracked and stopped all match. It certainly wasn't the beautiful game, but it was a winning one for Brazil.
Brazil turned into South American 'Italians' in tactics tonight though, which I didn't like to see, but when they played with the fluency that all Brazilians can, it was a joy.
One interesting stat, just 8 shots on goal, between them. A flattering score though for the Samba Boys.

While they didn't play like a traditional Brazilian side, they completely outplayed Argentina and controlled the game from start to finish.

Though would it have been different had the early goal (brilliantly executed) not happened? Argentina also hit the post through Riquelme, and Doni pulled off a brilliant save first half from him too.
For twenty minutes in the first half, and just after the restart, I thought that Argentina came into it. Brazil soaked up what Argentina could throw and the OG was the killer blow.
I was pleased Brazil won (not just for betting), but I do think the best side of the tournament lost tonight.
