I have very early memories of the Co-op shop at the top of Dykes Hall Road in Hillsborough, near the Bee Hive pub. Does anyone else remember it? I think it then became a shop for homebrew supplies. We used to live in the terraces opposite the Castle Inn before they were demolished around 1978. I remember the co-op seemed really old fashioned in my memories with open wooden shelves and counters running along in front of them. I looked on picture-sheffield for a photo but couldn't find one. Can anyone remember if it really was this ancient or is it my just early childhood memory?

Yup! remember it very well. We used to go there a lot as the family lived in the area. The last incarnation for the shop was selling packaging materials. Las time I went past it was a bookies.

Oscarpie,
Where exactly did you live on Dykes Hall? My mum used to have the grocer's opposite the chippy/chinese, until around '78 when I got married and she and my dad retired.
