Got a few old Led Zep and Pink Floyd vinyl albums in the loft, they are timeless classics, hence that's why a 17 year old is listening to em.
Rest of em, caught Polyphonic Spree at Glastonbury, looked pretty cool.
Radiohead - never quite see the attraction.
My music tastes change yearly, I am into acoustic stuff at mo.

Never heard of most of these bands, what kind of music do they play? is it rock and roll? is it played on radio or TV. is it worth listening to? is it music, or the ramblings of some drug induced stupor that borders on the insane.
If the weird sounds that come out of my neighbours bedroom window when he is playing his HI-FI is anything to go by, then no way can that pass for music, it is a veritable onslaught on the eardrums that would drive me crackers if I was forced to listen for any length of time.

I take it that's a no then Hal:D
"is it music, or the ramblings of some drug induced stupor that borders on the insane."
You may have a point here, a lot of the Beatles tracks were written under the influence:o
There is a fine line between insanity and genius.

He's had 3 class albums out since 2001!
His latest 'Lowedges' is the best thing I've heard for the past 10 years never mind just this year!!
........and who do we get nominated for the Mercury Music Prize??
The 'bleedin''....DARKNESS!!!
I despair.....I really do!!!!!!!
:o :o :o
I was kidding about Celine.
Actually I'm a Queen fan, David Bowie, Genesis and I really enjoy
Peter Gabriel. Hubby likes Led Zeppellin, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd and other British rock bands. I think we both got stuck in the 70s and 80s.
What one earth are you lot listening too these days??
Back Street Boys?!?!
After reading half these posts I cannot believe that half of y'all haven't heard of some of the classic artists. Come on, they've created history: ACDC, Black Sabbath, Queen, Van Morrison etc. And BB King for crying out loud, the King of Blues. Where have you been? How about listening to some Led Zeppelin and the awesome guitar playing of Jimmy Page.
So Upholder, Halevan and you too Donz, how old are you? Learn some history or music at school why don't you.
Most of the greatest artists are British too, apart from BB King.
Not all good rock groups write in drug induced stupors either. Some do though.
anyone like Def Leppard, Whitesnake and bon Jovi by any chance!?
The Darkness aint too bad too but the main guys a bit scary when you see them live>

upholder 23-08-2003, 19:02 Hello Funke88, I'm 39 years of age. I have pasted my list again for you. You can add the Rolling Stones to it, I have most of their albums on vinyl. Iron Maiden as well.
Out of the list i have only seen three of them live, Def Leapord, ACDC and Iron Maiden. I wish i was older then i could have seen Cream in action, Eric Clapton at his best.
Couldn't stand History or music at school.
Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Pulp
-------------------------
Cream
Steve Ray Vaughan
John Mayall
Oasis
Van Morrison
BB King
Def Leapord(early stuff)
Black Sabbath
Deep Purple
ACDC
White Stripes
Queen
Dont mind a bit of Mozart now and again
:o
I was at knebworth in 1979,Led Zepp (the highlight of a very rebelious youth),add Pink Floyd and Genesis and Yes.But as an old man i have time 4 Radiohead,Coldplay,Pulp.Saw The Darkness on Jules Holland,Thought they were s..t hot.
Once again the list omits Walter Widdup -the Halifax-born tenor
whose voice would bring tears to the stoutest of yeomen.
In the more modern idiom let's not overlook Alma Cogan -the girl with a chuckle in her voice. Her rendition of Sugar in the Morning has never been bettered.
And moving over the border let's not ignore the sheer magic and melody of those Scottish songsmiths The Krankies.Just to hear the opening bars of Fandabidozi still sends an electric shimmer of excitement down my spine.
Finally to bring us bang up to date and local let's salute the artistry of Sheffield's Cockers. One of them has a gruff timbre and waves his hands around -Joe I think he's called. The other one
is called Jarvis which is a most unusual name for a Sheffielder. He wears glasses and has recorded a song about Attercliffe Common
people. As far as I am aware they are not related to each other.
Thanks Upholder.
My hubby is very impressed with your list. He thinks British rock and roll "rocks"
He said "awesome list"
Good taste guys :headbang:
