I've always felt really narked about there being vast amounts of disabioity parking at Meadowhall and not enough parent and child - we have 20 month old twins so wider parking spaces are crucial to us.
Having said that I notice Meadowhall has had a rejig recently.
BUt now is there enough?
What abotu Crystal Peaks? There's certainly not enough P&C spaces but I don't think there are enough disability ones either, I often see people with disability stickers parked in P&C so I guess there can't be enough?
I find the city centre rubbish too.
So, maybe this is a good place to start a commentary about where is good enough parking and perhaps we can raise a similar thread in Parenting.
Maybe if we all have the initiative we can get something done about it too?

I think it vexes me that people ignore the signs too. I've left notes for people using disability spaces but with no badge before and I find myself doing it now with people who clearly have no kids in P&C spaces. I wish the penalties for disability spaces were harsher and that there was some sort of penalty for P&C.
Anyway... rant over :)

I might be yelled at for this, but I was so upset the other day when I needed to pop into town.

Everyone I know around us walks into town because it's really not that far and if I could, I most certainly would (I hate using the car too much with all the carbon footprint stuff going on) but I had to go by car. I parked up at the little carpark near Devonshire Green because last time I went in it was free for badge holders, I went to double check as I always do and it said nothing about disabled badge holders. I have to say I was already narked by this point because I knew that it wasn't my choice to drive in so why should I pay - but when it was 50p p/h (I was only going to be 20 minutes) and no change given (I only had £1) it was like the feather on the donkey's back!

Nowhere around there has disabled parking anymore, or not that I could find and as I didn't have much time, I ended up spending my entire visit to town looking for a space and then driving home without getting what I needed.

And no - Meadowhall is the ideal place for disabled visitors as it's so much more accessible so there's certainly not enough spaces, there's been times I've had to park at the other end of the 'normal' carpark and walk.

Infirmary Rd, Tesco is another one - why on Earth are the spaces where they are?! They're further away than some of the 'normal' spaces!! I don't know if there's lots in there who shouldn't be or whether all the spaces are taken by disabled people but I often end up parking elsewhere and it's very awkward to hoist myself out of the car (I can't get out normally most of the time - need more space) in a 'normal' space without hitting another car with my door!
